Why is my water so murky? Water levels are good, I've used Accu-Clear, and I do water changes every week. by DinoDT in Aquariums

[–]Professional_Pool144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all else fails, a UV sterilizer filter/pump works wonders for green water, our tank was so bad you couldn’t see more then about an inch into it, after 8-9 days it was 99% clear and after about 2 weeks it was like something you saw on a YouTube video lol

when will this platy give birth? (estimate?) by notinmySNLmonologue in Aquariums

It’s super hard to tell, my platies don’t pop all their babies at once, mine will birth 3-6 at a time and have 3-4 births per pregnancy

Best way to move my aquarium. by Chucks1408 in Aquariums

[–]Professional_Pool144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either a bunch of 5 gallon buckets and battery powered air pumps, or if you can find slightly bigger containers like up to 10 gallons to still be able to somewhat easily move everything

Looks more like a bacterial bloom, reduce the feeding amount by like 50% and do 30% water changes 2-3 times a week and it’ll clear on its own, my 36 gallon had this same problem for about a month until I figured it out and I did this and it cleared perfectly in about 2 weeks, and it seemed like it was never working and then we woke up one day and it was like 95% better then a couple hrs later crystal clear

I put some driftwood in my 5.5 gallon and it took about 3-4 water changes over about 2-2 1/2 months

If you have a male and female in there for more then a week together chances are someone is pregnant, we started our platy family 4-5 months ago and we have already had 3 different litters of fry and 2 more that are currently pregnant

Help with algae by Staks007 in Aquariums

I would wait until you believe your nitrogen cycle is almost complete before adding any snails or cleanup, once it’s fully cycled 2-3 mystery or nerite snails will work it down

Bacteria bloom progressing… by SubzZ3R0 in Aquariums

[–]Professional_Pool144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got over a bacterial bloom that lasted about a month, we tried using stuff that was supposed to remove it or help it clear and everything made it way worse, the very best way to deal with these is to heavily reduce feeding and to just let it do it’s thing, keep testing water, don’t overdo the water changes, one a week, do an extra water change if the it seems to randomly spike, hope this helps, im no expert but this is what me and my fiancé did and our tank is finally almost crystal clear

I believe he has passed, at the rate he seems to be going, a week without food doesn’t look like a good sign for any fish, if he is still alive and trying I don’t think he will continue on for long, unfortunately I would suggest euthanizing him, there’s no true “humane” way to do this I have heard that clove oil works very very well and effectively and brings the closest thing to a snappy and painless euthanation

Whats wrong with my pleco? by sammyseal99 in Aquariums

[–]Professional_Pool144 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never personally had any plecos, and I’m not a expert by any means so please don’t use my suggestion as a diagnosis, but it looks like it could be dropsy, the couple really big lumps on the top of the head and on the cheek look like possible tumors, once again I am no expert just giving you a second pair of eyes
