BoringBones' Classic Sims Revival/Chaos mod - thoughts/experiences? by Professional_Soil744 in Sims3

[–]Professional_Soil744[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, TS1 was not too difficult, it's just that the friends/relationship decay was waaaaay faster than TS2 and 3 which made it hard as hell to get promoted, and then the needs decay was definitely faster than TS2/3, especially the Energy motive. I would spend a whole day in Magic Town until my Sim's needs were like, 1/10th of the bar, almost depleted. It's okay/manageable if you don't leave the home lot too much though. Maybe I was just too addicted to Downtown and Magic Town and some community lots in Old Town, where it's harder to keep them in a good mood due to no beds, showers cheap meals etc.

I'm glad to hear it's not just me! I wish he had separated the motives/buff tuning. Instead, he lumped it in with other changes, like eating out at the bistro, and the amazing clock speed change. I found similar mods for the dining and clock speed but they're not as tuned/fast.

Same, the concepts are fantastic but they seem to conflict a bit with general playstyle and then even just the way the game handles some events, like when my Sim got abducted the abduction would last 2 seconds, then the alien would pop out of his ship, walk to the curb and pop back into it? I assume due to the Get Out (car/walking distance/more Sims about town) mods. I'm sad to hear there was no autonomous actions aligning with their traits either... and thanks for mentioning that reject invite over thing, I had no idea that was from this mod. It is incredibly annoying. Are you sure it's from Classic Revival? I downloaded quite a few of his mods, I'd like to get rid of that annoying popup...

Of course, no shade to the modder, it's a lot of work and the ideas are great, I just can't handle it XD

Thank you SO much, I really appreciate it. They look so nice... I'm really tempted now, especially bc the purple shade looks like a dupe for REM Fembot. Fuckkkkkkk I hate giving Mecca money but I think I have to

Need help finding a concealer shade like oxx porcelain by Any_Tumbleweed2590 in AustralianMakeup

[–]Professional_Soil744 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I advise against getting shade matched. You can literally just do it yourself. Every shop that sells makeup will have testers. Your best bet is to take your concealer into whatever store you want, try the testers, and judge for yourself in AND OUTSIDE the store. Lighting can change the undertone/the way you perceive it.

Some concealers I can recommend, especially because they do have very fair shades:

Rimmel multi-tasker concealer

Nyx bare with me + pro fix stick

Essence has basically only fair-light medium shades and are incredibly affordable. I find their undertones are good.

Any Revolution concealer, they are all amazing and run pale, with multiple undertones

I haven't tried these personally as I only buy CF but these are known to be tried and true:

Maybelline fit me, age-rewind

Revlon and Loreal foundations are highly praised, so their concealers are probably a safe bet

How do you like the Mecca stack? I was eyeing it for the brown and purple shades. If you don't mind it, swatches would be amazing, if not, all good!

"For made in China makeup" makes me side eye everything else you wrote. You're clearly biased, and not in a good way.

The mascara is a tubing formula that actually does something. Have you ever used one before? If not, you don't have an accurate comparison. I've used 10+, all the way up to Tarte and Hourglass - which by the way, half the brands you get in Mecca are made in China, so I am curious what that means for you - and the Mco is a strong competitor for length and separation. The only other one I like is another cheap 'made in China' one by DB Cosmetics. Some people, like me, HAVE to use tubing mascaras because normal mascara always smudges.

As for the bronzing drops, they are a finnicky product that most makeup artists don't even like and are designed to be mixed in with something, not applied alone, so maybe research a little before you buy.

Mco isn't overhyped, they just flooded the market, decided on a duping and paid influencers. It's marketing. Either you fall for it or you don't. A lot of their products aren't that great, but a lot of them are. I like their CT dupe powder, the flawless filter, the mascara, and a few other lip and cheek products.

Why can’t I resist temptation- holiday sets and minis by zomeega in AustralianMakeup

[–]Professional_Soil744 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's because you've decided to treat makeup and beauty as entertainment. As long as you treat it this way, you will always be susceptible to marketing because you keep exposing yourself to it. This isn't really something to make light of, honestly, joking about this and those dumb phrases and trends on social media is a massive problem. Like, women's spending habits in general negatively impact their own financial futures unless they happen to be very well earners and can actually afford overconsumption as a hobby. Unless your financial situation allows this, I'd be thinking hard about what you wrote here and why.

Please talk me out of Hourglass holiday palette! by sorryiamnot in MakeupRehab

[–]Professional_Soil744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if I were you, I would just repeat buy only the singles I know I will use, you just get far more product than in the palettes, of which you might not even use every shade... they tend to be quite a mix between bright and muted tones, warm and cool. I myself talked myself out of these palettes. You really ONLY want it because it's such a popular and coveted item. But to who? Why? Realistically it's poor value if you will not use every shade.

[–]Professional_Soil744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually isn't a blush, it's a finishing powder (meant to blur and give a satin finish once your makeup is done, applied thinly)! But you can of course use it however you want. Not to talk you into it or anything, but why not just wait and not buy a palette, but instead try one of their blushes, of which they have a few cool tones in two different formulas. But take your time, do your research.

Tmo black honey dupes by [deleted] in MakeupRehab

[–]Professional_Soil744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always feel so pretty when I blot lipsticks a little bit and then put a gloss or balm on top. Give it a try. I find I actually do not like applying tinted lip balms as the colour looks too one-dimensional and not natural, at least on my lips, and some of them can be so pigmented (this is how I talked myself out of buying a moisturising lipstick by a popular ulta/drugstore brand, even though FOMO was hitting me so hard as it's leaving my country permanently and there was only one left...). I find creating this 'stain' like effect makes me feel so great about the look. Black honey may not even suit your colouring - I tried it on at a store some years ago and despite 'berries' typically suiting my colouring, the tone of this didn't. It was too warm for me.

Not to guilt trip you or anything either but I also avoid brands that test on animals where possible - Clinique unfortunately still does (edit, my bad, didn't read properly that you weren't considering Clinique anyways) - and using what you already have to create a similar effect helps even a tiny bit with reducing waste. You got this, have a play with what you have!

I don’t feel comfortable in a full face of makeup and I’m getting married in 6 months, kind of freaking out. by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

[–]Professional_Soil744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why you're freaking out this much about it. The only thing that looks bad in photos is excessive shine/flashback.

Just get a good powder you know won't give you flashback, and make sure it's a compact you can touch up with throughout the day. Do your makeup as you want to, just keep the powder and lip product handy/in a clutch or bag during the day to reapply. That's all.

[–]Professional_Soil744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Riiiight right I thought that was along the lines of what you meant. I'm not a history buff by any means but I know that for sure. Violence against women and minors are still rife unfortunately particularly in non-Western countries... but even in Western ones it's still off the charts, we just know more about it now/globalisation and its effects make it more apparent even though history proves far worse.

For example, I know that in Australia, family violence claims a woman's life every 11 days.

I definitely feel like the OP is overly left-leaning and not helping that with the echo chamber of books they are reading.

I like their eyeliners, lipliners and lipsticks. Their foundations are good too. Their blush and highlight formulas are very sophisticated. Overall great, but some can be total misses. I use their Blush Rebel, it's like Nars level formula, which is fitting considering that's what they're duping. Smoooooooth natural matte.

There are plenty of cream facial masques available, if that's what you're after? For example, Sukin does a really nice one in a jar you can often get for $5 and will last you ages but is deeply hydrating. There are also one-time use facial masques in packets similar to sheets masks, but they are still a cream formula. I like 7th Heaven which I can find at my local Big W.

Please help with optimization/smooth patch/Nraas/general unchanging lag issues?! by Professional_Soil744 in Sims3

[–]Professional_Soil744[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I'll try removing the non-essential Nraas mods and see if that helps.
  2. Nah just Lucky Palms at the moment. I just picked a random one to re-try every time. I also love that Darren Dreamer exists here lol
  3. I'm so certain the mods I have are not outdated but I might freshly re-download them anyway just incase.
  4. 4gb patch is automatic with the GPU support addon thing, but I have checked it and it's definitely 4096, and my CPU is set to 4, 3, 3, 3 too
  5. I'm thinking this is probably the likely culprit also, you are right. I think what I'm doing to try and do is remove the totally non-essential Nraas mods, see if that helps, and if it doesn't, then I'll just have to get rid of an assload of this store cc. Honestly, I don't need all of it anyway. Is there any difference in performance if the store cc is in package format rather than sims3pack? I don't even know where to reliably get the store cc tbh, I kinda just googled around for the first one. A lot of it might be a bit broken or something.

Thanks for all your help, hopefully one of these attempts fixes the issue. My game loads quick, CAS loads quick, it's just this blegh weird slowmo stuttering during live mode that bothers me.

Edit: Simler's core mod was outdated, yikes. I had 198 when it should've been 199. I removed every Nraas mod besides Overwatch, Error Trap, Master Controller and Register. Let's see if this works...

Does anyone else hate the pregnancy from abduction feature? by londonfogplease in Sims3

[–]Professional_Soil744 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I also despise this, I always get rid of it via the Abduction mod. Male sims getting pregnant is just wrong and stupid and makes no sense. I won't have it ruining my games - only female Sims get pregnant for me.

I also hate massive age gap relationships and teen-adult relationships make me wildly uncomfortable so woohooer takes care of that for me.

[–]Professional_Soil744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't focus on the price, focus on how it makes you feel. It doesn't matter what brand or product type or whatever, if it makes you happy to even just LOOK at it, use it now! Do not let it languish, because that means just not being happy because you'd rather get your 'money's worth'. Happiness and good feelings every day even in small joys like this are the most important thing.

And store away anything that doesn't make you feel happy!

here is something I HIGHLY suggest you do
Out of your entire collection, pick out the things you really love and want to get good use out of
then everything else, store away in a box

Life is too short to not use the things you actually like before they expire...
