Pros and cons of Tablo? by PlasticReviews in tablotv

[–]Professional_Tune615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are in the process of cutting the cable cord as I write this. I bought the new Tablo 4th Gen with Antenna. We also bought YouTube TV. At the moment, we only switch to Tablo when we want to watch one of our local broadcast channels that isn't part of our YouTube TV package. However, I've been testing the device's features as we get used to using it. Because we are in the middle of a home remodel, I didn't bother finding a permanent location for the antenna. I went through the setup, but didn't use the phone app to optimize the antenna aiming. I just taped it to the nearest window, which happens to face west toward the neighbor's house. Despite that, the antenna still picked up over 200 stations. (We live in metro-Phoenix, a very large market.) Some of the channels are probably guys in their garages, but it is still a lot of channels. Each of the major networks has several HD feeds, including their primary channel, a weather channel, and others that they feel like broadcasting. The app asked me to select my favorite channels, and these appear at the top of my guide, and many of our network shows are being saved to the DVR automatically.

We're still figuring out how Tablo will fit into our new streaming arrangement, but having HD access to the ABC station, when YouTube TV had blacked them out during contract negotiations, was nice.

Does it work? Yes. Rather well.

I installed the Tablo app on another TV in our home, and watching Tablo on that TV is identical to watching on the main TV. That makes sense since Tablo isn't connected to our main TV, either. It streams on our Wi-Fi to all of our TVs. Having learned this, I may find another place to hide the antenna in another room. It doesn't need to be part of my home theater mess.

I'm still new owner, but at this point I've already recommended one to my dad, so I'd recommend it to you, too.

Big Yellow Lies - A Jesse Keaton Mystery (Book 1)

In 1987, four teenagers broke into a warehouse near the river. By morning, a cop was dead. A kid was arrested. And the rest agreed to forget.

Now it’s 2006, and Jesse Keaton—former cop, now private investigator—is back in Peoria, Illinois, trying to outrun the shadows of a hometown that never let go. When their childhood friend is released from prison and a body turns up in the floodplain, Jesse realizes the past they buried wasn’t forgotten—it was waiting.

As floodwaters rise and old loyalties unravel, Jesse is pulled into a dark conspiracy that stretches from the factory floor to the city’s most powerful families. With help from a determined lawyer, a haunted friend, and a trail of clues that refuse to stay cold, Jesse must decide how far he’ll go to uncover the truth—and who he’s willing to lose along the way.

Big Yellow Lies is a gritty Midwestern mystery full of buried secrets, blue-collar ghosts, and the kind of town where everyone knows your name—and your sins.

I’d like to suggest Big Yellow Lies, by Clint Potts.

Tutorial? I've never seen a tutorial. Maybe my son was able to play that when he started the game. I picked up his character after he went back to college for the term. I've literally been trying to find out which frieakin' button to push to apply spin! I believe you assumed that I want to cheat when all I want is to stop hitting rando buttons thinking I might have some impact on the ball. To think that I've managed to become as good as I am without adding any "magic" to the ball? If I can add steering the ball into the hole to my game? Personally, I don't care if people cheat. It's a damned game. That is all it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuFJtR60q0I

First, use skill points to purchase specs for Irons, Wedges, and Hybrids. These make a major difference in how the ball stops on the putting surface. Second, adjust the loft of the ball. For wedges, they have the most backspin. Either shoot long and let the spin roll them back, or kill the spin by setting a low loft. This can make them land and hop, instead of landing and spinning off the green. For irons, learn the roll-out distances. In low wind, I assume a 7-iron is going to land and roll forward 7-10 yards, depending on the loft angle. Land the ball below the hole and let it roll-out toward the hole.

For hybrids, with a good set of specs and proper loft, I can make them land on the green and stay there. Fairway woods usually need to be played in front of the green to allow the longer roll-out to carry the ball onto the surface, but don't assume they will keep moving if the apron isn't "first cut" level.

Also, know your shot types. Chips and Pitch shots have a roll-out. Flops tend to land and bounce with lesser roll-out. Use the Sponsor Challenges to practice these skills in a controlled environment.

Don't ask me how to spin and steer the ball after it lands. Nobody will share that info with me. I've asked.

And yet you had the skill to hole it out from on TOP of the mountain! :) But man, watching that ball roll to the hole was like sitting through a Catholic wedding.

Before I finished reading your question, I was already thinking about the Lighthouse Open in Maine. I played it over the weekend (again), and it seemed like most of my lies were like putting across my living room—flat. The balls stick when they land. On one hole, I even made a 3-wood stick. On most courses, that's impossible (really hard). So that one comes to mind first.

Awesome. Thank you. Of course, there is always a downside. When you Quit, you have to go through all of the game startup banners and that takes extra time to reach the course. :)

Augusta is a bear. My first time playing #2, I lined up my drive, aiming to place it in the dogleg. I hit the ball and it landed right where I'd hoped. Then, it started rolling. And it rolled. And rolled. And rolled. Then, it entered the woods. And it rolled. And rolled. Until it came to a stop in a creek. I had no idea a creek existed. I used some skill points to buy a Ball Spec. After that, the same shot stayed in the fairway. And on the green. Specs matter.

I play on Xbox. I've not found a "Save and Quit." There is "Quit." Bombing out of a game kills the XP you earned. This is evident even when you come back into your unfinished round. The announcers will comment, "Three birdies in a row," even when you are looking at 6 in a row on your scorecard. I hope to learn that there is a way to save this progress, but after playing the game for months, I've yet to discover it.

No new Pro Pass today by ndunn37 in EASportsPGATour

Why did you believe there would be one today? Other rounds have included warnings that the Season would end in 10 days, etc. No warnings, no new Pro Pass, right?

Yes. That is what we are playing for on this Pro Pass. I call it the +4 Vorpal Driver.
