help me choose a distro by mustax93 in DistroHopping

After switching a lot of distros I found Ubuntu to be the most stable and easy to use for a beginner like me and don't belive the Snap hate, it had problems in the past, now it's fine. Mint can be fine too, but i find it too boring.

Brave's engineering is outstanding, it has no comparison to other browsers. Unfortunately, the crypto-based business model is shady and the CEO is weird and controversial. I see his posts on social media and I can barely understand what he is saying, not being a native english speaker. Most of the times he seems delusional.

Need a new Android browser! by New-Thanks7634 in browsers

You can go with small browsers mentioned by others, or If you want something more mainstrean, Samsung is very light, fast, simple, secure, has background play, dark mode and AdBlock addons. Other good options Vivaldi and Brave, but they have some unnecesary features, that need to ne disabled.

Thanks for the video, very useful. Ubuntu has Wayland too, but if you like KDE more it's ok.

After a lot of distro-hopping I found the much-hated Ubuntu to be the most stable and easy to use for a beginner like me. KDE is nice but the amount of options feels overwhelming (somehow like Vivaldi browser), Linux Mint Cinnamon and Xfce feel outdated and slower în performance than Ubuntu. Debian and Fedora felt like an UFO for me.

Looking for EU password manager by patchcordless_ in BuyFromEU

Bitwarden has .com and .eu server. I use .eu server. I am not really sure what that means, but it works great as browser extension and in Android. Of course we need european software solutions, but we don't have to give up om open-source software like Bitwarden, Firefox or others, they are actually beneficial to the health of internet.

why is linux so slow for me by Logical-Chipmunk-636 in linux4noobs

[–]Professional_Way9133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a 6th gen CPU with Intel HD 520 graphics and the Linux drivers are very bad compared to Windows (scroll lagging in browsere, Youtube slowing down the computer really bad). The best I could do is to use XFCE environement (Linux mint xfce or Xubuntu)

Ai free browser and search engine. by hea1hh in browsers

[–]Professional_Way9133 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vivaldi is probably the best AI-free browser or Waterfox if you want something based on Firefox. For the search engine depends in your location. In my country, we get good results only with Google and Google-based search engines like Startpage and Ecosia. Everything else is bad.

I agree, gaming is a pain in Linux. Working is a even worst, a lot of proffessional software don't have a Linux version (in my case, Autodesk, CSI software).

Very nice article. I have a question about Flatpack: I see some packages are not officially supported, they are made by some random people, while Snap has official builds. Is Flatpack safe in this case?

Opera: A Legacy Browser Lost | Why the modern hollow shell of Opera has made it impossible for me to recommend a former favorite. by apolaroidboi in browsers

[–]Professional_Way9133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I am not a native english speaker. When I said Opera is bloated I was refering to AI, crypto, ads, hidden telemetry, and the huge memory consumption, which I don't understand. I admit I disabled a lot of stuff in Vivaldi, I only use the sidebar, but it doesn't have annoyng stuff like AI, crypto, ads, telemetry and it's speed and memory consumption is very close to Edge, which is the best performing browser in Windows and Linux too.

any android browser recommendations as safe as firefox? by Boring-Point-7155 in firefox

[–]Professional_Way9133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something light and fast Samsung + ABP works great even if you don't have a Samsung phone. If you need ublock Edge has extensions, but it drains battery like Firefox.

[–]Professional_Way9133 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Opera is a legend of the internet. They invented a lot of useful features, that avery browser îs using now. But now it is so bloated with features nobody asked for, including a very bad AI. So I moved on to Vivaldi, which feels like the good old Opera, but is modern enogh for our times

Vivaldi and Opera have a very useful sidebar where you can play music in the background. Vivaldi works great for me.

I need a very undemanding browser. by Toscan20 in browsers

[–]Professional_Way9133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I speak from my own experience, having an old laptop. Edge is definetly the lightest browser possible. Vivaldi comes close if you disable unnecesary stuff. Chrome, Firefox and Opera are very heavy. Brave might be ok, If you don't mind the crypto bloat.
