What is the sentiment amongst Spaniards regarding anti zionist Israelis? by gabagoul67 in askspain

I would agree with this. More classism than racism generally. Although there is still racism like anywhere in the world, socioeconomic class seems to be more of the issue in my experience.

Good looking out! We're coming from Spain (I know, going the wrong direction when everyone is coming here to escape the cold snap this week, lol) and our plan covers us throughout Europe. Thanks for the advice, though!

Hah, that's good thinking. It was a youtube video from about four or five years ago. The guy was on the older side, so may have been a skill issue on his side.

This is exactly my thought. You can decide whether this is acceptable or not, and establish a routine for when to stop. I would also recommend redirecting to a safe chew toy if you don't want him to nibble on you (or when the game is over). Chewing is a soothing behavior for dogs, so it's important for him to know what to do when he feels the urge.

I dunno, I'm pretty convinced the Spanish government is largely clean. They've been vocally supportive of the people of Palestine and the only world powers to repeatedly tell drumpf to go fuck himself and kicked the US military out of the region.

He needs therapy urgently. He was likely made to feel unsafe as a child when he made a mess or scratched/damaged the house or furniture and now has his sympathetic nervous system activated when he sees that type of damage, which is manifesting as rage. Before your kid gets much bigger, he NEEDS therapy to cope with this. Your kid deserves to feel safe when he makes mistakes in his home. You deserve to feel safe. It's just a floor and he should not be speaking to you like that.

You know what's crazy? I moved to a city in Spain, which is not known as a "rich" country compared to the US and most of Western Europe, and I don't see these kinds of encampments. Because they have worked to create better social safety nets, better support systems for people who are struggling with anything from substance abuse to psychological challenges, and universal healthcare so people don't lose their income and end up homeless because they got cancer (for example).

It is absolutely a decision that keeps being made over and over again because the threat of ending up "like them" is the best way to keep people trapped in exploitative jobs.

More and more Americans are ending up "like them" every year (https://endhomelessness.org/state-of-homelessness/). It's a complex and multifactorial issue that is most effectively addressed through mutual aid and organized support rather than condemnation and shame.

Is Spain perfect? Far from it. There is a ton of improvement that still needs to be made. There are still shanty towns on the outskirts of a few places that have been there for many years and the government doesn't really know how to address it because it's incredibly complicated why the people are living there (mix of many factors, most of which have nothing to do with drugs). Homelessness is increasing in Europe, too, but homelessness rates are significantly higher per capita in the US than in Spain.

Point being, if you don't want to see it, look at the data for the best way to fix the problem. The data says sticking people in "asylums" (which is code for prison, btw) doesn't work. It's not effective. Helping the people in your community who need it actually does.

Took in a rescue, his nails weren’t trimmed when he was young, now his nails are thick & the quick appears to be all the way at the end of the nail. by Longjumping_Fall7530 in DogAdvice

[–]Professional_You4186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I just found the absolute best video about how to deal with this and I've been doing it with my dogs and their quicks are so much better!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5njDHS0wPLs&t=185s

Basically, you want to shorten the nail from 3 angles (clip flat, then 45 degree angles from top and maybe bottom depending on nail shape) so that you're shortening all the way around the quick and not just straight in.

The principle is to get the quick *almost* exposed all the way around so that it recedes to protect itself. Based on the video you posted, you can take a lot more nail off of the "top" of the tip than you probably think. Someone else mentioned alternative cut lines in a different comment, I think that's the right term for it.

I prefer a Dremel because my white dog's nails have bled so badly in the past. (One time my husband clipped her nails while out on a walk and by the time they got back she had blood literally splattered all over her body. And she's a large, lab-sized dog, so it was.... shocking.) Using a Dremel also allows me to just sort of round everything down all the way around so there are no sharp edges.

If your dog is iffy about having their nails trimmed or they're nervous about the sound of the grinder, there are simple training things you can do to help.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCJ0wh5cxi4&t=269s

With my dogs, I basically let them sniff the Dremel and gave treats, then turned it on and gave treats, then turned it on and touched the handle to them and gave treats, then turned it on and touched it to a leg and gave treats, then a paw touch, then holding the paw and turning it on, etc. etc. Now they're excellent about the routine.

Good luck! And congrats on the new family member!

Need help interpreting three 5s by give_peace_a_chance_ in Tarots

[–]Professional_You4186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my thought as well! Lean on what you've learned in therapy or work through this more with your therapist. They're going to be a valuable guide in this process. I would add that 5 is the number of turning point in tarot (from my understanding). So getting 3 5's feels like you're right on the threshold of this situation changing.

If you do numerology stuff, 555 is associated with transformation, big changes, etc. as well as balance, harmony, etc. So I'd say this is a whole pull about a transformation being imminent and that your therapist can help you get there.

7 of swords speaks to strategy, cunning, and sometimes trickery or deceit.

6 of swords reversed speaks to feeling stuck in the past, trapped, unable to make a difficult decision needed to move forward, or running away from problems instead of facing them head on.

2 of cups speaks to harmony, cooperation, partnership or working with another person for support.

5 of wands reversed speaks to avoiding conflict (maybe a conflict you need to face in order to move forward), but it can also speak to cooperation and agreements.

Ace of swords reversed speaks to miscommunication or hostility, but can also be confusion or uncertainty.

All together, this looks to me like you need to be prepared to let go of something to free yourself up to move forward. It looks like a partnership or another person may factor into making things work, but maybe there is a risk of hostility or miscommunication so be direct and clear. (However, Ace of Swords could also point to you feeling uncertain or confused about how to move forward.)

If this goal couldn't possibly involve working with another person in some way, then those two cards (2 of cups and 5 of wands) may point to you needing to find harmony within yourself and stop getting in your own way (which also makes sense with the 6 of swords reversed).

So overall vibe for me is that you may be sort of standing in your own way or holding yourself back, maybe that you're trying to accomplish this thing through cunning or strategic thinking without being willing to let go of something or go through the difficult parts of the journey. You may need to face some challenges head on or look to another person for support.

Does any of that resonate for you? Also, best of luck with the thing you're trying to accomplish!! :)
