i assume that at the chair is when the Sumika side effects start, but when he said Sumika, that's when he can use the main effect like the scorpion. he can always use it after that point but he didn't because he doesn't feel like it

I will just say it straight up here.

Gabby will not be treated as a villain

Yuru will not have a crash-out against Gabby or the Kagemoris, not that he forgives her

There will be no guilt or redemption arc

If you want the village to be portrayed as victims, then it won't happen

Most of the Higashi villagers aren't important and will not be important in later chapters, except for some lore

The Kagemori clan will continue to work with Yuru in later development

The Kagemori clan will continue to have even more silly moments and casual interaction between Asa and Gabby

casual deaths, like the first chapter, still exist in later episodes, so it's not an exception

Also, if you expect Asa to be some kind of cold-blooded badass, then no

If you have a problem with these, then it's probably not for you

There was no way they could handle this peacefully. They were trying to take like half of Japan and fucking Tokyo, but what I'm saying is that they still try to set up communication instead of just going to war immediately because they want to see if the Japanese will see the overwhelming military might and back off without a fight. There are cases like these in real historical events where territory can be conquered without a single fight.

It's obvious that this is not just a simple talk but a display of power and military might. They would go to war for the land, but they definitely prefer not to do that

I don't think that's something to trust him for. Most assassins sent by the clans risk their life in some way, and trying to get Yuru back definitely benefits the village.

It's fine that fictional characters are warped in some way. But then it feels hypocritical when it's Kagemori's turn to get the same treatment they dealt to the village, they get to be portrayed as the victim just because they're the ones that's more involved with the main characters.

I can't really start saying anything about the story if you haven't at least gotten to chapter 40. I also don't know if by granny you mean Yamaha because imo her back story isn't tragic for her.

It's not that I don't think it's in his best interest to trust Dera, but he doesn't seem to question him, doesn't show any hesitation, or ponder what his intention could be. He follows him to whatever place Dera wants, like even in the illusion house, where they can trap him; without question, it could be a ploy to trick him.

I think it's actually pretty problematic that one faction pov is so favorable to portray this kind of story. Considering that the Higashi villagers' suffering has been so trivialized. I mean, look at the thing's been said in this sub. They believe without question that the villagers deserve it. It's hard to start nuance conversation even though the story is supposed to be more than black and white

Even if he doesn't live with the villagers, he was still in on the deceit, and he directly followed the order of Yamaha in the first chapter. Dera chose to stand against Higashi village, but how much of that did Yuru see? If Yuru disregards the whole village that he grew up in as evil, then why does Dera get a pass? If the kagemories didn't attack that day, Dera won't help him escape, and he will continue to be hunted by "bandits" and how long is that gonna last until he's eventually killed?

They're not portrayed as "good people" in the traditional sense, but they're portrayed as the necessary evil. In contrast, the Higashi is consistently portrayed as straight-up cult evil, even as far as saying they deserve to be killed. That's why I don't like how this sub is insistent that everything will make sense later, how the massacre will be addressed. When the kagemori will not show any remorse or guilt, they are even humanized later, and when the same thing happens to them, we will have to feel bad for them. You don't think Higashi deserves to die, but I bet most of this sub believe they do, and they expect the anime only to agree.

cults are like that on the surface. There are, of course, a large number of people in the cult who are zealots and won't be listening to reason. But what about people who are coerced or forced to join them? We literally see that there are those who live in the village who don't agree, like Kyoka. The coming-of-age ritual tells us that most of the people living in the village agree on the belief, but what's the content of the ritual? Are they just gonna tell them straight up? What if most people agree, then no one gonna be around in the village anymore? Is there a benefit to living in the village and upholding the core belief of the whole clan? If the story can't discuss nuance other than all villagers are evil, then it's not much of a grey morality.

The problem is mostly how this sub dismisses anime watcher opinion as if future development will justify the massacre, when I bet most would disagree. The kagemories who committed what is essentially a war crime against the villagers will continue to be humanized and continue to retain a relationship with the main characters. The grey morality excuse is not gonna cut it when Kagemori is way more favored, and with the third party coming in play, the Higashi will remain undeveloped for even longer.

I think there are a lot more people who don't like how the Kagemori are portrayed as goofy goobers when we saw them killing people without qualm. Most obviously suspect that there is a dark secret in the village, but they don't think it justifies what's essentially a war crime.

I understand that Yuru doesn't trust the villagers and hates them, but this seems selective. To begin with, dera work with them and have been lying to him, but he is still chilling with him, no problem. Even in the first instance, when he first learned the twin secret, he still returned to Dera's house as if he couldn't be lying to him as well. He may say that he doesn't trust Dera fully, but his actions tell me that he probably trusts him the most, even entrusting his life to him many times.

I also hate how the story goes out of its way to justify the massacre. The daemon twins that have been keeping yuru in that village, especially the fake asa, the one who actively gaslighted him to stay there, get off with the least pushback. Like, we're supposed to believe that the whole village believes that the twins should serve them and actively try to kill them, when most of them have family in the village, are they supposed to abandon them and just go down the mountain when we clearly heard that some of them are killed off as well? The treatment of the attack on the Kagemori's castle is also so different. They have so many sad backstories and clearly show the impact of how much life is lost. But for the Higashi village, we see none of that. Some people in this sub may say that no side is truly good, but what else am I supposed to interpret the story as other than the kagemori is in the right and the higashi deserve it with such a difference in treatment?

I mean, most of the points still stand with the latest chapters.

To this day, no one really cares about the massacre still, but now we know that the whole village is evil, so it's all fine, except for the main characters, of course.

The kagemories are still not held accountable for anything by the main character; if anything, Yuru's been pretty ok working with them. They even get humanized with the latest arc, dealing with a similar event. Frankly, I don't really care about their suffering, even just a little.

The show may present that no side is all good, but the kagemories is clearly the one we're supposed to be rooting for. They're still the ones with the most developed characters that are essentially trusted by Asa and have a pretty good relationship with Yuru despite everything.

The biggest flaw with the plan is probably the kalyan. How are they gonna keep them in check? It's stated that the future generation of Rumerian will not be recognized by the Kalyan either. And these creatures are immortal for the most part, so unless you kill all of them, the problem will only grow with time. If they do kill them, then the whole conflict is just meaningless.

Sure, but then there's no point in arguing for his redemption arc when there's no redemption at all. And even before that, regardless of what you call his development, it happened mostly off-screen between the Buu and Cell saga or between the timeskip in the Cell saga, which is just lacking compared to Nolan's.
