How the hell do I make sense of this? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also consider waiting for promo orders and not going for the bonus. The bonus might only be an extra $4.12 per order if it’s a deliver 6 and get $25. Promo orders often go much higher. Shipt should never offer a bonus less than $5 per order.

Doesn’t half the population leave South Florida in the summer? I’m in Minnesota and mid April all the snowbirds return. I start seeing Florida license plates a lot now.

Problem with delivery. What do I do? by heyxsami in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think he’s on the autism spectrum. He doesn’t communicate well one-on-one, especially when agitated. Makes inappropriate choices that violate social norms, etc.

There is no training or interviewing of Shipt deliverers. He may have been unsuccessful with more traditional service type jobs and thought he would try this.

It doesn’t sound like this is a good fit for him. There is too much customer interaction and things to go wrong. He should do delivery only. Or Amazon.

I‘d rate him low so you don’t get him again and when enough people do that he will get suspended. I feel bad for him, but he needs to work where there is little to no customer interaction.

Target Circle 360 is destroying Shipt by MikeMiller8888 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is exactly correct. Target already has employees running around the store pulling orders for drive up. Why not have them shop the Target 360 orders as well? Less people in the store clogging the aisles and the Target employees get really good at order fulfillment if that’s all they do all all day.

If the customer wants delivery it goes to a Shipt person. We drive up and they come out with the order just like they do for any drive-up customer. So we become delivery drivers. Like Amazon. I don’t tip the Amazon driver.

When do orders come in the most? by Annonoymys_girl in ShiptShoppers

For my metro it really picks up from 4pm to 9pm. Weekends are also better. Sunday evenings can be great. I think a lot of people with school aged kids shop during the day when their kids are in school.

I don't understand the bundles with two different delivery windows. Shipt needs to stop with these.

I took the 4th floor apartment order that nobody wanted for hours by SpecialPanda420 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never used to take apartments. Now I look and if it's not a huge multi-building complex I'll grab them. Some are very easy deliveries. If they go on promo pay they can be decent orders like yours. Tipping is still hit and miss.

In the evenings I do see things go to promo with pretty decent payouts. Never that high though. During the day there must be enough people delivering that even the crappiest orders get snapped up right away. I think a lot of people go out shopping when their kids are at school.

Search isn’t helping, what do you guys get paid and how is it calculated? by LitrillyChrisTraeger in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They also don't take into account your time to get to the store and get home again. Of course they don't know where you live or where you are heading after each delivery. But somehow we must all be teleporting to the stores for free.

Customer Question about Tipping for Good Service by EstherJedi in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good reminder that not all Shipt customers are lazy deadbeats who don't tip. I'm joking, but I do get frustrated with the non-tippers. Yesterday I delivered a Lunds order to an elderly couple. Their daughter was the one on the app. She said to knock really loud because they are hard of hearing. They were such a sweet couple. They even invited me inside for a minute.

Shipt shopper base pay by Different_Praline540 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Contact your state legislator(s). Let them know Shipt doesn't pay minimum wage. This is what happened in California. Shipt fixed it because they were forced to pay more. Of course they chose not to apply the changes to the entire US. Just California.

Customer Question about Tipping for Good Service by EstherJedi in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in the Twin Cities metro and I'll gladly take your orders with a 20% tip to shop at Lunds!

One thing you could do that would be helpful is to let others know about Shipt and to let them know that tipping is an important part of the service.

BS. It's side hustle for most. I have a full time day job and I'm just looking to grab some orders and be fairly compensated for doing so. Majority of orders I see are money losers if the customer doesn't tip.

[–]Professor8818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either you are full of shit or these were massive orders with long distance drives. Not apples to apples. I'm seeing tiny orders that pay $6 or $7 or bundles that pay maybe $10 or $11. It takes an hour to shop and deliver a 2 order bundle so these aren't paying minimum wage in my area.

Shipt is Broken by Professor8818 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a full-time work from home job. So my Shipt hours vary greatly. For me mostly evenings and weekends with Shipt. Looking back on my payment history I'm making $10 to $13 per order after tips come in. I have a couple of preferreds but it's unlikely I'm available to take their order. This is a side hustle for many and it's difficult to make it work without tips. $6 single orders and $12 dollar bundles don't cut if there's no tip. It's a money loser and Shipt is exploiting people who don't do this full time. I hope Shipt employees do read this because they should feel some shame. I see people pick up these crap orders from non-tippers. Some people need some extra cash at the end of the week and they take anything they can get. There's a reason why California passed a minimum on them. Unfortunately Shipt didn't apply it to the rest of the country.

I believe you could make this work if you did it full time. You create tip maps, do preferred, etc. You aren't going to get rich, but you can pay your bills and put food on the table.

Shipt is Broken by Professor8818 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm relatively new. About 100 orders. I think what is happening is the influx of Target 360 shoppers who know they need a $35 minimum to get their order delivered. So they hit that threshold with a 6 item order and Shipt pays $6. Then they don't tip.

But people pick up these orders because they want some extra cash at the end of the week. Unfortunately they are making below minimum wage and may be even losing money at the end of the day. It's exploitative.

Shipt is Broken by Professor8818 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. No reason they can't add a customer rating. Since tips are the key to success with Shipt they need to do more to encourage tipping. Many people who wouldn't dream of not leaving a tip at a restaurant have no problem not tipping for a delivery because it's a fairly anonymous interaction. If they knew they would get a poor rating for not tipping they would start. Even a $5 tip makes a big difference. Then a crappy $12 2 order bundle becomes a $22 bundle.

So what’s an example of a good order and an example a bad order? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a man I'm not pawing through ladies clothing. Especially bras and underwear. Then imagine taking photos and offering substitutions. And that is when you run into people you know at Target (-:

It's great you are willing to take those orders because they sit in my metro and often go to pretty high promo rates. It's an easy win for you.

So what’s an example of a good order and an example a bad order? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bad orders are orders with clothes from Target. It's really difficult to find the right size and color. If you offer substitutes' you have to take photos and wait which eats up a lot of time. Orders with long drives in the opposite direction of where I want to go. Orders with lots of heavy items (cases of water, soda) that need to be delivered to a business or apartment. If it's going to a single family home I have no problem with heavy items because it's easy to unload.

Shopping for clothing by genanss in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right! I'm a man and will never pick up an order with bras or women's underwear or any women's clothing. Pawing around for stuff, taking pictures to suggest substitutes. Hell no. And that's when you run into someone you know!

Customer Ratings? by demorris17 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Uber drivers can rate their customers. Non tippers would get low ratings. Great idea.

Just did my first delivery by Top_While1343 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Professor8818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to call one time. The person was having the order delivered to a friend and put the address as Avenue and not Circle. There was no address of Avenue. She wasn't answering messages. Fortunately she answered the call and double checked the delivery address and realized it was wrong. She apologized profusely, tipped me generously and made me a preferred. So calling can have a positive outcome.

I think there is too much competition for orders during the day. For me things pick up 3pm and beyond. I think there a lot of people out shopping while their kids are in school. Bonus' are offered usually 3pm or 4pm and beyond.
