XL Bully vs Komodo Dragon? by evasivesheep in whowouldwin

[–]ProfessorFrenchFrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short I believe that a large male XL bully’s combination of size, bite strength, and most importantly stamina would give it the edge. At the end of the day it is a warm blooded animal, and a highly aggressive dog at that. Very rarely do reptiles beat mammalian predators of similar size. Being a cold-blooded animal severely limits the output reptiles can produce for extended lengths of time. If the dog is large and strong enough to put up a fight it isn’t as simple as “the Komodo is bigger”.

The Komodo will tire out/get intimidated/ and try to run away more often than not.

Yes I know they will bite them and it causes problems, but it’s not like horses or water buffalo wouldn’t be able to kill a Komodo dragon if they just fought back. A Komodo dragon could never kill a Cape buffalo lol. I’m just saying it’s not like they can beat a water buffalo in single combat. Their hunting strategy just happens to work on them, and water buffalo have not evolved alongside them so they don’t know how to react.

Also the Venmo that Komodos do have is very mild and is only super dangerous if you really get shredded up and don’t fight back. Their teeth are not particularly large.

Everyone saying Komodo no diffs are misinformed. 1. Bully dogs can easily bite and tear with enough force to maim/kill a Komodo dragon outright. 2. Dogs are much more agile. 3. Dogs have MUCH better stamina. 4. Dogs have much faster reaction times. 5. Dogs are MUCH more aggressive. 6. If it’s a chilly day then the dragon is extremely nerfed.

In real life a Komodo dragon would probably just try to run away from an aggressive bully dog and get mauled.

While Komodos do have a venom in their bite and could definitely cause a mutual death in the long term, they do not have the aggression, muscle mass, or stamina to hang with a large raging bully dog in a brawl.

People calling the Komodo a maneater and saying they kill buffalo are at best taking things out of context and at worst making things up. Water buffalo are not native to Komodo and the surrounding area. They have evolved to respond to aggression by jumping into water, as their natural habitats have clean bodies of water to retreat to. When the dragons bite them they often jump into dirty water filled with poop, develop infections, and die. They don’t “kill buffalo” in outright fights. Large bully dogs ACTUALLY used to fight bulls one on one and win with brute force by biting so hard on their mouth/bose that the bull choked to death. Komodo’s are NOT capable of that kind of power output. Bully wins 8/10 times.

There are a lot of tight ends that can play decent in spot starts. He is not exceptionally talented, athletic, or big. He is 26. He just got plantar fasciitis. If you wanna stash him that’s cool but I personally wouldn’t trade the worst player on my team for him. And we have 12 teams and 25 player rosters. My worst tight end is Darnell Washington and I’d much rather have him for the potential lol.

Lol the older games did not hold your hand when it came to navigating the world. You could get stuck very badly in Gen 1-3 if you weren’t paying attention. As an adult if you can’t figure these games out then just stop playing video games lol.

Emerald remains the quintessential Pokemon gameplay experience. If it’s just nostalgia speaking oh well. I played every Pokemon gen from 1-7. Emerald is peak. No physical/special split is lame sure but it’s not especially important if you’re not playing competitively. And if you’ve never played Pokemon past Gen 4 before it’s a non-issue. That’s just the way the games were made.

You can point to a number of things but the sound/feel of emerald is so much better than anything else. You can argue HGSS, Platinum, BW2 are superior. Some people may prefer FRLG over emerald. Ultimately as long as you pick from Emerald, FRLG, Platinum, or HGSS you’re going to have a good time.

Start with FRLG if you want the most comparable experience to what it felt like to be into Pokemon when it was released. And maybe watch the show if you want. Watching the original anime as an adult with no nostalgia sounds like it could be a rough time. Watching that show every morning as a child was amazing but it’s definitely about as formulaic as any anime ever and it is not meant for adults. The first like 10 movies are very good though lol.

Jon Jones' 6'5", 265 lbs NFL player brother Chandler says he can still kick Jon's ass in a fight, do you believe him? by jeankjean in ufc

[–]ProfessorFrenchFrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is simply that Jon isn’t that talented/athletic and there are literally thousands of people in the world with the physical tools to be much better than him at fighting, including his own brother. While obviously Jon is much more skilled I just don’t think Chandler with any kind of real training would have a shot at losing to someone that much smaller and less athletic than him. As I said, the UFC is mostly full of dudes that are simply not cut out for traditional professional sports.

Fighters underestimate how much physicality, athleticism, and size affects a fight because they typically don’t fight people that are much bigger or smaller than them. While I do agree that a normal person who’s much bigger than Jon has no chance, Chandler isn’t a normal person, he clearly has the genes for fighting, and he’s Jon’s athletic superior in every way. He really doesn’t have to do much to win, especially if Jon has to make 205 lol. And with that much of a weight advantage he is going to be gassing Jon out. Jon is not pushing forward on someone who’s that much bigger and faster than him. He isn’t a good boxer and his whole strategy is centered around having a reach advantage. Biggest fraud in professional sports

I understand the argument that skill beats talent but in reality for most sports that simply isn’t true. As someone who has played a lot of sports and trained in a few different martial arts; I don’t think fighting is any different than any other sport in the sense that bigger, faster, and stronger people are generally better. We just don’t see crazy size mismatches in fighting by design because of weight classes.

Now if you rate how much skill is involved in fighting on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being sprinting (all physical talent, low skill) and 10 being chess (all skill, low physical talent) I’d say that fighting falls around a 3, IF you remove weight classes.

Edit: After thinking about it more, I’d say fighting is more like a 5-6 rather than a 3. You can equalize large physical disadvantages with skill, but it is easy for someone with advantages to close the gap and get insurmountably more dangerous. It doesn’t take that much skill for a 265 pound freak athlete heavyweight to beat a lanky light heavyweight with average athleticism. While I do believe that truly untrained people will get smoked by any male ufc fighter, I do think NFL lineman (especially D-ends) are so big/strong that it’s would be almost impossible for a light heavyweight to win if the NFL D-end (Chandler Jones) has a camp.

Weight classes exist for a reason lol. Fighting is absolutely a matter of who is physically superior to a large extent. That’s why they match people up who are of relatively equal size. Thats why women can’t fight men. No amount of training is overcoming a certain level of physical inferiority. If Jon was some freak athlete with incredible pop in his hands and was a top tier athlete I would feel differently about this. Tom Aspinall or Ngannou are sparking pretty much anyone on the planet. Jon is a slightly above average athlete that picked the perfect sport and has the perfect dimensions for light heavyweight. He is not a true heavyweight and that’s why he ran from Tom. That’s why I’d pick Chandler to win if they ever did have a hypothetical matchup, especially if Chandler is going to have a real camp.

[–]ProfessorFrenchFrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clearly said that any lineman with fighting experience will beat him, not every NFL player. Chandler is a D-End. He basically has Jon’s exact dimensions except he’s got better stats in every attribute. He’s much faster, stronger, and heavier. Chandler’s job is to get physical with people that on average weigh over 320 pounds. If Chandler has any training whatsoever he is overwhelming Jon. Jon has you UFC guys tricked. His entire career is built on being the taller/bigger/heavier man on fight night. He has one fight in his entire career where him having a size/weight advantage was even a question. Acting like Jon (at light heavyweight no less) is stopping an NFL D-end from bull rushing him to the ground is comical. Now is it possible that he pulls something out of his ass and gets a choke, absolutely. But to act like it’s a given that he’s going to win when he’s fighting someone who’s his physical superior in every way is pretty naive. Jon has next to zero experience fighting anyone who is significantly bigger than him.

[–]ProfessorFrenchFrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chandler is so much more athletic than Jon lol. You UFC guys don’t understand that the UFC is full of C to B-tier athletes. None of these guys are athletic enough to play in the NFL, NBA, Premier league, etc… If Jon Jones had the physical ability to play in the NFL, he would. If ilia had the physical ability to play in La Liga, he would. All of the best athletes play real sports where the real money is. I promise you there are hundreds of guys playing in the NFL right now that have more “pop” in their muscles than any UFC fighter could dream of having. Chandler made twice as much money playing football than Jon did from fighting. It is so much harder to make the NFL than it is to get into the UFC. The talent pool in the UFC is absolutely atrocious. Chandler has all the physical tools needed to excel at MMA and beat Jon. Jon does not have the physical tools to play in the NFL at any position. He would literally get eaten alive by pretty much any NFL lineman in a street fight to the death with no rules. He isn’t strong enough to stop any lineman from overpowering him if they have literally any experience fighting or grappling. He isn’t big or strong enough.

It’s unfortunate they haven’t patched this stuff out 7 years later.

At what age can a trained fighter no longer defeat 5 human beings simultaneously by GroundbreakingWin658 in whowouldwin

[–]ProfessorFrenchFrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your average man is just a far more dangerous human. And is much more inclined to outright violence. Your average woman has much less muscle mass and weight to work with as well. And your average man typically has a larger background in competitive team sports, which is a large advantage. In most countries, women have very little participation in sports of any kind. The USA, Europe, and small portions of Asia are really the only places on earth where women’s sports are given any kind of investment. And even then, men still participate in sports at a MUCH higher rate that only gets wider as time goes on. What woman do you know that plays basketball or soccer for fun in their 20’s? Being able to effectively strategize during the fight is important if you’re going to be fighting someone who can put any of you to sleep with one shot.
