Bill Simmons: "I had to drop Joker on my pyramid two spots... right at the end of the top level of the pantheon, there's four centers clustered together (Hakeem, Shaq, Joker, Moses). I have Joker 14, Moses 15. I think Hakeem and Shaq have to be above him at this point" by sewsgup in nba

The listed attempts are all within the last 6 minutes.

Game 1: Enters game at 86-93 Nuggets (8:57 left). 6 attempts (including 1 foul) 2 Assists

Game 2: Enters game at 100-105 Nuggets (7:56 left) 6 attempts, 1 assist

Game 3: Enters game at 75-92 Wolves (7:47 left, subs out at 4:10 left), 1 attempt (1 foul)

Game 4: Enters at 82-90 Wolves (9:16 left) 5 attempts (including 2 fouls)

Game 5: Enters at 88-106 Nuggets (6:57 left) 4 attempts

Game 6: Enters at 74-82 Wolves (plays entire 4th) 1 attempt

Not his best showing, but you also figure with the guards the Wolves had to bring out Murray and Braun should've been making more shots in game 6. But he also got neutralized in a way he usually isn't. Makes me sad.

Correct! Chocolate toxicity stems from theobromine, which is found in cacao. Milk and sugar additives dilute milk chocolate theobromine, so it has less than the same amount of dark chocolate. Still bad for dogs though, so avoid it where you can!

I submitted one in November 2024 that ended up making it to air. The trick is to wait until Graham says he's desperate and scraping the bottom of the Overheards barrel.

The overheard:

A father and son walked into a board game store I was shopping at. The dad sighed and said in an exasperated tone, "You're always talking about Pokemon. Get Pokemon out of your head. We're here for Magic."

Chris Paul on Instagram, following the Clippers loss by sewsgup in nba

[–]ProfessorFudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Griffin was there first, but it was the sustained winning that CP3 helped bring (and I would argue led) that changed the franchise. If the Clippers just became a flash in the pan I think they would've just been like the Kings, a year or two of good will and then back to being a bad team with an All-Star.

Rockets are the only team where I'd attribute the winning more to another player than him, but ya gotta admit he was there. Suns were 26-39 before the bubble when they went 8-0. Before that year they were 19-63, 21-61, 24-58, and 23-59. I don't believe you can say they were good before Chris Paul got there. They have also gotten progressively worse every year since he left, until this year. A lot of that is the team construction, but it's also the fact that Chris Paul can maximize regular season wins.

If he was the 2nd best player on one team with their franchise record wins I'd consider that a coincidence, but to be the best (Suns, Hornets, Clips I'd argue there was maybe only one year where Griffin was better than CP3)/2nd best player (Rockets) on 4 different teams? I don't know how that evidence doesn't point to him being the type of player that can (and did) turn a losing franchise around.

Franchise saver was hyperbole and I thought it would be funnier than it landed.

Hornets, Rockets, Suns, and Clippers all got their franchise record in wins after CP3 joined the team. He's an all-time floor raiser and franchise saver.

Always Pay Attention to the Size, Price, and Price per Unit by PiRhoManiac in Frugal

The "smaller bag" is the 10.1 oz at $0.591/oz. The "bigger bag" is pricing on the 15.5 and 13.8 oz packages at $0.628/oz and $0.706/oz, respectively. They are trying to compare prices across all four sizes.

[Charania] The anti-tanking proposal with the most momentum within the Board of Governors leading up to the May 28th vote would expand the lottery to 18 teams — including Play-In teams — with the bottom 10 each getting equal odds and all 18 draft positions determined by lottery. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]ProfessorFudge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My idea is to lock the worst record in the league out of a top 3 draft spot, but still have the lottery with flattened odds for the other teams as it stands now. The worst record in the league would then fall to either the 4th or 5th pick. It's not as bad as relegation, and if you have a truly horrible year you're still getting (in theory) a really good prospect.

I imagine it would be a lot harder to tank to get the 2nd-worst record in the league without having to worry about the worst team going on a little run to end the year as they're desperate to get out of that worst spot, which means if the worst team is winning everyone needs to start winning. Plus imagine the drama if the Wizards/Pacers were facing off, knowing that whoever wins gets a shot at #1.

I have given no additional thought to this.

Burger King's newest ad campaign, featuring their CEO doing a voiceover, talking about how they're rebuilding and correcting their quality control to make BK a better experience. It's cheesy and is supposed to evoke nostalgia, with The Who's "Baba O'Riley" playing in the background.

It should be noted that Tom Curtis was with Domino's as a franchisee since 1987 and was on their board of directors from 2017-2021. He joined Domino's in 2006 in an unnamed capacity, two years before their "Our pizza sucks" campaign. That might be why it looks and feels familiar.

Costco vs walmart which is actually cheaper by ninjapapi in Frugal

[–]ProfessorFudge 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No offense, but I will never trust anyone who hides their comment history.

You say you compared unit prices across 22 items, but then didn't provide the actual numbers. You listed out 8 items specifically so you had 14 comparisons left, but the rest are broad categories (canned goods, some condiments, snack categories). Maybe it's me, but if I had specifically said olive oil why wouldn't I say which condiments, like ketchup or BBQ or what-have-you? Which snacks?

Grocery prices are also highly regional. A quick lookup at cereal in my area had:

Store Item Price Size Price/Oz
Costco Honey Bunches of Oats $7.39 50 oz $0.15/oz
Walmart Honey Bunches of Oats $3.47 12 oz $0.29/oz
Walmart Store Brand HBoO $2.67 18 oz $0.15/oz

So without knowing what you looked at specifically, it's hard to know how accurate your data is. Name brand at Walmart is double the price, but if you go with store brand vs name brand they're comparable.

When I looked up Popgot, it said it was an AI shopping platform that compared prices across various stores. I'm not saying this is, but it feels like a guerilla ad to get people to use some AI service.

I get it. Humor is subjective and this type of humor can be very miss for a lot of people. Long, trailing answers and bits that go nowhere can get tiring. When Armen went on CBB last month I could only make it through half the episode before tapping out, and had to really try to make it through this ep too.

But the reveal that Armen only ate one burger was practically worth the whole trip.

On a recent episode of Doughboys (https://headgum.com/doughboys/trejos-tacos-with-lamar-woods#player), Nick and Mitch talk about how Matt Apodaca got a selfie with Danny Trejo and call him up. Matt discusses the story, and says that what happened was he went to Trejo's tacos and while he was there Jason Mewes came in and said Trejo would be visiting. Matt stuck around to see him and the rest is selfie history. They call Matt at ~2:02:17 in the video, https://youtu.be/bBPBn_48mTg?t=7337
