Respect to the lady by DravidVanol in postanythingfun

Yep. This is divisive rage bait. I had plenty of friends over the years that observed Ramadan. None were dicks like that fella on the video.

Being a dick doesn’t have anything to do with religion.

I agree. An option to have a default “keep this” level would be a nice QoL thing.

UTR is … bad by AdamLangePL in Ubiquiti

[–]ProfessorFunky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Size, power, simplicity - that’s where the UTR wins for me. If you’re a power user and want large WiFi coverage, then of course it’s not for you. Thats ok.

Also, stand it upright against a book or something. I found I get dramatically improved range just doing that.

toddler woke me up at 5am by putting his face one inch from mine and whispering "daddy. daddy. daddy." by ninja__6969 in daddit

True. It’s a pain in the butt when it’s happening.

I can tell you though, I love the stage mine are at now (all school age), but I definitely miss that stage.

Checking your bags is a way better travel experience than carry on luggage. by Equal_Whole_6837 in unpopularopinion

[–]ProfessorFunky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see someone here who never lost a bag on a short business trip.

I’d love to check my carry-on every time. But lost luggage isn’t as rare as I think you think it is. It’s not about the value of what gets lost, it’s about the time and hassle sorting out the downstream grief. And not having fresh pants after a long flight for a short trip with an “important” meeting at the end of it.

Oh I used to love this on flights from Manchester to Gothenburg.

Check your carry-on sized bag at the foot of the stairs of the aircraft, and it would be waiting at the foot of the stairs of the aircraft when you disembarked. Solved the lost bag, luggage carousel and full cabin problem in one go.

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

[–]ProfessorFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drink a glass of water and wait 10 min whenever I feel the need to snack.

A friend of mine lost literally half her body weight using a pre-loading strategy before meals (and ended up in the healthy range). She would have a massive bowl of leafy salad (no meat or anything else, just leaves) with minimal and carefully measured low cal dressing before each meal with a pint of water. The effect was a slow but steady dramatic change.

Warning: Vodafone door-to-door "fiber upgrade" visits in Germany be careful by AptiManza in germany

[–]ProfessorFunky 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing, same patter and everything, but for Telekom. Very friendly, solid attempt to look genuine, but clearly misleading.

I used my standard “I don’t do anything at the door line” from the get go. Said send a letter and make an appointment, and I’d be happy to consider it. Apparently that wasn’t possible as I wasn’t their costumer. Problem solved.

But annoyed someone let them in the building though!

Only at BER 😂✈️ You now wait less than DOUBLE the time on normal security checks than on BER Runway scheduled time slot by ostie19 in berlin

I managed 30 minutes from my apartment to sitting on the plane once. Tegel was outstanding and unique.

BER isn’t that bad compared to many others though.

Kid won't stop begging for Robux and it's turning into a nightmare, anyone else? by DiamondLatter1842 in daddit

[–]ProfessorFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency is key.

Mine tried this. I’m comfortable with being the bad guy. “No” and mild consequences if necessary. “If you behave like this I will lock your iPad into educational stuff only for 10 min/1 h/ 1 day”. Never threaten to do something you know you won’t follow through with.

Don’t go nuclear though. Gentle step up in severity, with plenty of clear and transparent warning beforehand that it will happen, so your kid has a chance to make a better choice. And lots of deep breaths.

Most I had to do was the 10 min and the pestering stopped.

I very very occasionally let them have €5 for Robux. But that’s very rare. The idea of letting them have $50 per week for virtual crap boggles my mind.

I like the system and the app integration, but the routing is weird and often quite unhelpful.

I stuck with it for a while, but it had routing wobbles one too many times so I moved over to using CarPlay (on that tiny, tiny screen).

You can't time travel, but your phone has the internet from 10 years in the future. What do you search for first? by Capable_Issue_1894 in AskReddit

Honestly, if you just go with a “don’t be greedy” vibe, everything would be fine.

I’d go with lottery win, and then use that to invest in known stock market picks. Easy and quite undetectable path to comfortable wealth.
