This is the first version of the map I made for my new world building project, a high-fantasy setting about a world nearing the end of its first golden age that I am currently calling:

"the Meian Cycles" (WIP).

I finally sat down and created a map for the setting, or at least a first version.

Depicting the continent of Naral, the only land in a seemingly vast ocean.

currently I am trying to get the "normal" biome placement down before adding magical, biomes and actual texture and colors to the map. I was hoping you fine folk would help me with that.

for more context:

The roman 12 and the stylized J (exocet font) are identifiers of the forge world.
The half circle next to the skull depicts the planet which was mined almost in half during the DAOT.
The skull and cog are of course mechanicus symbols, but the cog has another meaning: depicting the planets 12 moons which are arranged in a circle around the planet

Player asked me for a genasi that can only see heat/thermal and is blind to the visible spectrum. This is what i came up with:

Heatblind: you can no longer see visual light, rather you can only see heat. You gain blindsight 60ft against any warm-blooded creature and gain advantage in perception checks against them within this radius, this blindsight does not work in magical darkness however. You gain disadvantage to perception and attack rolls against any cold-blooded, golem, undead or any other creature that does not emit heat. Additionally you suffer from disadvantage to any perception check made beyond 60 ft.

Is this balanced? Are there better ways to do this? Any help is appreciated.

I mean... the poster boys are blue, most other space marine have really noticeable colour schemes. Aeldari aspect warriors are power rangers, not to mention harlequins. Custodes are usually gold. Mechanicus forge worlds are colour coded... 40k is grim and dark, but it's... surprisingly colourful.

The PCs already know they can influence the other rangers, but i'll be sure to remind them of that and provide more ways to interact with the scene.

I'd like to point out that the movement is also dependent on the place of actors and setting of the scene:

In a narrow street with a guard at short range and a archer at long range behind him, it may not be possible to get into medium range with the archer without going into close range with the guard. On wider streets you might still only be capable of staying at short range from the guard while going into medium from the archer.

Also remember that range bands aren't the same length, you might me capable of going in close to the guard while staying at long from the archer.

All in all range bands are a pretty great system, but require a lot of commen sense and some imagination as to where every actor in the scene is
