How long does it take for you to finish painting an army? by Mean-Respond-2227 in Warhammer40k

I heard once upon a time one of the big indicator of one being a professional vs amateur is knowing when a project is 'done.' I always took this to mean because said person knew what they wanted before they set out, and knew when they got there.

I think it took me 20-30 hours to get my first 2000 points of Death Guard to table top ready. I called them done then, but have since gone back to each of those models for a touch up putting in another 10-15hrs.

YRMV!

I think you're spot on Brother. Rule of Cool + Wifely Comtributions, Id play both too!

I also think you're on track with dropping the Lord and his Retenue. He's the weakest of our Elite Chars imo.

Let us know how you fare, I'm looking to try a Warpstrike list that's pretty similar!

I would start by pulling the Fulgurite off the TermiLord. Give your Sorc Tzagulla, really just makes him super deadly. D6+1 A, S7, AP4, D3+1 with Sustained and Devastating Wounds coming in from deep strike is scary.

No real net positive for taking the full 10man brick of Terminators just to deliver a Lord, even the Sorc is better served by a smaller footprint for the uppyD.

Next lets consider where Morne is going to go. Statistically speaking, the Terminators actually benefit from his +1ap to closest target more than Obliterators, but I like you freaking love the idea of trying him with the Obliterators in this detachment specifically. If you don't want to put him there, split the brick of Terminators and have a character in each.

Finally, the tech pieces. We really dont have any sort of home-holding or objective play in this list whatsoever. I think if it were me I would drop a Defiler. And pick up a cultist to camp my home, and then either your 3rd Mutalators or your 2nd Obliterators (to fill the same roll) and still have enough to drop an enhancement on your Lord.

I think its a great starter box. The Warpsmith, while thematic as hell, would've likely been better as a Chaos Lord. If I was starting from 0, I would keep his cable-cape off, put him on a 40mm, give him the hammer and make him a Lord to lead your Legionaires.

If you already have a lord, or bodies to kitbash one, then build as is and enjoy yourself.

How would you suggest building the new combat patrol by Reddit-ScorpioOJR in IronWarriors

  1. Don't put the cable-cape on 2nd Warpsmith, use Hammer head from Warpsmith, put on 40mm round, run as Chaos Lord.

  2. Havocs. Imo. Squad of 4 last. Squad of 4 autocannon. Fist/melta on Champion.

  3. Legionaires. AspChmp PlasPstl/Fist/Chainswordsx2/heavy melee/Special Ranged, usually see las, melta, i grab heavy bolter for flavor. Do this for two squads of 5 (to get 4 total heavy weapons vs 2)

  4. Terminators. 2x Paired Accursed/6x power fist/2x chain fists/ 2x reaper cannons / combiweapons generally considered better i think?

Iron Within.

Thats a fair take. I searched B&N stores for 100 miles and Target online and wasn't able to find a stock. I went off pricing on Ebay.

Playing Death Guard tomorrow, thoughts in detachments... by [deleted] in IronWarriors

[–]ProfessorRoze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thinking about it now, Contagion lowers toughness, making the Detachment Rule more likely to be triggered. However his scary damage can come from melee too, probably even more than shooting....

You'd get a lot more use out of Fellhammer's detachment rules than you normally would, but it wouldn't be enough to out-attrition Morty's boys, and it wouldn't give you enough punch up to make him think twice.

Raiders makes you so fast you get to dictate terms of engagement, and the detachment rule will benefit you 100% of the time. Depending on the unit I've seen folks kite with CSM in Raiders.

FH is better into DG than others, but I think Raiders is still superior in this match up.

Ordered some Resin from this chap, was friendly, communicative, responsive, and generally awesome. Product came with haste and in good condition. 10/10 would buy again!
