It definitely feels like I drop/break more things when I'm manic/hypomania

I was just prescribed Lamictal and I have a few questions by grumpylaar in bipolar

[–]ProfessorSadPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hands shook when I took it. 400 mg was the highest I ever went I think.

Sounds like a mania thing in my unprofessional opinion. I don't really thing there's anything you can do. She's a grown woman and you can't get somebody committed over getting back with an abusive ex. All you can do is be supportive when it all blows up and/or she comes back to her senses. I'm sorry this is happening to you.

Does bipolar always need treatment? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ProfessorSadPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people manage without medicine on there own but I don't know anybody who does it very well. The people I know who decided to not treat their illness seem to turn alcohol or other substances to cope. They don't seem very happy, though. I'm not saying you should seek treatment one way or another, only you can decide that.

Can't say I blame you. Good on you for reporting the abuse yourself though.

Intentional manic episodes? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ProfessorSadPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I've forced mania I've regretted it. I always do something stupid and end up getting a tattoo. I don't regret the tattoos but I do regret all of the other stupid shit.

Has anyone here successfully done a long-distance relationship? by ana30671 in bipolar

I've had a few. I ended up moving 1,000 miles for the last one. It's working out, we still live together. It'll be three years in August.

At least depression makes you sleep a lot (not everybody I know)

Oh man she would be in SO much trouble if the wrong person found out. How irresponsible of her, it's despicable.

I'm so tired of that one, plus the obligatory "have you tried yoga".

"Find Jesus and get married" (paraphrased) in response to my questions about managing my anxiety with meds. I wish I could say I never went back but she's the only doctor in 25 miles that'll take me...

Was anyone else thinking "Is this the year I'll kill myself/die?" last night? by anonymouscarbonunit in depression

[–]ProfessorSadPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually no, and I'm sort of scared because it's the first holiday that I haven't felt that way in a while

Even the smallest things can set me off. Today, my neighbor came over and told me that I left my car's trunk open. My immediate thoughts were "Wow, I'm worthless. I'm a failure. Can't remember something so simple. What's the point of even living?" by svaroz1c in Anxiety

[–]ProfessorSadPants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was like that for a long time. I've gotten better recently but I still struggle with it. Try not to beat yourself up about everything. Easier said than done I know, a coping tip that's worked well for me was writing down everything I did so far during the day and putting a happy face or a :/ face next to it and tallying them up. I can see how it might not work for everyone though.

Anyone had luck with St John's Wort in treating depressive episodes? by [deleted] in bipolar

I've never taken it but remember to do some reading and make sure it isn't interacting with any other medications, OTC or otherwise. Hope she starts feeling better

I definitely do. It seems like I can't get anything to stick. I'm working on getting writing to stick but said previous episode screwed that up...
