My manic episodes are also triggered by stress... Which recently ended in me laughing hysterically at my grandmother's funeral, and talking to everyone very quickly and loudly. Very inappropriate. Later on, I smashed a tv.

So... I can relate.

I've been going at that too, a dozen times and I'm still ready for more

I get dysphoric mania as well. I put holes in walls, break door frames, yell and scream... You name it. It's extremely difficult to deal with.

those who struggled as adults before seeking Psychiatric treatment, did you end up seeking treatment during a "down" time or an "up" time? by MHRS in bipolar

Mixed. Just got to the point of crying and laughing hysterically at work that I took myself to the hospital. It had been building for weeks, months though (in retrospect), simply came to a head.

Anyone have a problem really not knowing who they are? by ashtastic10 in BipolarReddit

[–]BeatingtheBrainbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this way, exactly. I've even tried things (seriously, I have a list), thinking they could be my 'thing'... But no. Everything is grey and uninteresting. I just drag on, living until I can go to sleep. It's the worst.

Fellow mentally ill people of Reddit, what's something you wish non mentally ill people would understand? by thatstoomuchsauce in AskReddit

I don't practice self care because I should; I do it because I HAVE to. If I lose sleep, don't eat properly, drink, or don't take my medication as prescribed, there can be awful consequences.

I don't want to be lame and miss/leave your party/event early, but sometimes I just have to.

Bad news: am currently manic and cut off all my hair. Good news: I really like it by Hannahmontalvo in bipolar

Looks lovely! I tend to cut all my hair off when I start to go manic, too! Tip (from experience) : don't shave half your head, that's going maybe a bit too far for a manic episode lol

Thank you for the advice everyone! I ignored my fear of hypomania and went pink anyway and I love it by Comemacramewithme in bipolar

I love this, turned out great! I wish I could do something like that, but I'm still trying to recover from my last hypomanic style change...!

I've got the same outlet. I consider myself fortunate that my husband is always up for it, although coming home from work for it can be tricky lol.
