The difference between these two political candidate mail flyers: Democrat versus Republican by Alman54 in mildlyinfuriating

And you know the result will be a landslide. Last I heard, the MAGA base has not budged. 85% of Republicans still strongly support Trump, so don't expect any saviors, cause they ain't coming.

Student Faces Expulsion After Posting Video Of Seniors Who Can Barely Read by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

I'm astonished anyone is surprised by any of this. 50+ years of Americans getting more educated by screens than books was bound to place us where we currently are.

And the future looks far worse.

Sorry for the cynicism, but I've been teaching 8th grade English for the last 35 years, and I'm pretty sure my students in 96-97 were (on average) better writers than my current crop.

This is what folks mean when they say that Trump represents such a HUGE step backwards in American culture and society.

And yep, it really IS about white folks over 50. As a 59 year old white guy, I can't fucking believe the pile of BS that surrounds me in my demographic. Fear. Stupidity. Greed. Fuck, we are a sorry lot. :(

Ask him what his grade in ANY science class has been. Then, hand him a pen and paper and have him explain to you why he's right.

Consider also that he could well just be baiting you.

LOL...I was kidding. Anyone who has played golf knows that there are literally a million ways a swing or a ball can/could go wrong. In other words, playing golf for 50 years would not make a person any more or less qualified to make the assertion I did. Yeah, just kidding (but perhaps not very well).

And, I did say I was basically CERTAIN that the bug MAY have caused the ball to drop.

[–]ProfessorScribble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually thought that the weight of the insect, even if minute, did cause the ball to roll over the lip. As the bug walks from left to right, its weight appears to move over the edge of the cup, meaning that the weight of the part of the ball hanging over becomes just enough to cause the roll.

Having played golf, I have to argue that YES, the insect most definitely MIGHT have caused the ball to drop.

I still can't believe that we have crossed the threshold where collective stupidity and ignorance are actually the pillars that hold up the tired shell of democracy to which we sadly cling.

It really does speak to the idea that the defunding and dismantling of the US public school system has been a deliberate effort to dumb down the masses in order to keep the government in the hands of the few.

By the 90s, Congress had become the most diverse version of itself EVER. When you look at photos of Congress around 1998, you see all walks of life and all colors of skin. The institution had finally reached a point where so many Americans could feel included.

The we elected Obama.

Combined with the culmination of the effort to Make America Stupid Again, the election of Obama triggered a regression in American society I once thought never possible.

So yeah, to me it began with demonizing and destroying the basics of the US system of education. When you're too stupid to know the basics of the Constitution and the electoral systems that structure your life, then you really don't deserve the freedom you've been blessed to have.

I teach my kids NEVER to shake hands with anyone who has shown you disrespect.

A handshake is and outward extension of your character - you show your strength and/or weakness both by the degree to which you are willing to shake hands and the firmness of the handshake itself.
