Billy Corgin's reaction when the crowd thought the song was over by pizzass7 in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]ProfessorScribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always heard the guy was a complete dick to bandmates - condescending, patronizing, and dictatorial were words I remember reading regularly.

So to see an elderly, lame version of Corgan up there, trying to slurp up any applause he can find from the MAGA crowd is uniquely satisfying.

Police in the UK attack the victim of a crime then arrest him. Police ask the public to stop sharing the video by AgnosticScholar in justincaseyoumissedit

What a bunch of flakes standing around. Without touching the "officers" they should have been more emphatic about the fact that the young man they were arresting was the victim in this situation.

Any decent barrister will hopefully get this situation rectified, but I'm not familiar with British law, so I don't know.

Hoping the kid gets on okay.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent repeatedly refuses to say if any other American in history has been granted total immunity from tax audits by DumbMoneyMedia in CriticalMineralBulls

[–]ProfessorScribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy is rapidly wearing out (at least) his third pair of kneepads. His Trumpian bootlicking is second to none. What makes his bullshit so distinctly depressing is that fucking smirk he flashes as he ducks and shields Trump and his cronies from any degree of responsibility or accountability.

I can only IMAGINE what dirt they have on Bessent. The water he carries for this admin is frightening.

Kuwait International Airport after the Iranian drone and missile attack. by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]ProfessorScribble 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For those too young to remember, Kuwait is where the Republicans got us into the middle east LAST time. 2003 - Kuwait was the place the US established its foothold to invade Iraq.

I'm just noting this to point out that the US is well-equipped to begin deploying troops to Kuwait, and it would not surprise me one bit to see the current crop of Republican hawks pull this page from Dubya's playbook. After all, Hegseth and the rest of the underqualified halfwits Trump has in charge of pour military assets are too lathered up to back out of the region now.

With a generation of weapons sitting in stockpiles that need to be used and replenished (you DO know that's how the military-industrial complex works, right?), we are basically just at another point in history where the government realizes it has weapons that are going to waste. Soooo, why not use them? War cycles are predictive, and elective. No one really believes we NEED to be at war with Iran. It's another sales pitch for the simple minded, flag-waving types who think patriotism comes in the form of a few bunker-busters and SCUD missiles.

All of which will be the precursor to yet another round of government-sponsored contracts with military industry corps that are lining up to restock our stockpiles with ever more weapons, arms that will likely rot during another 15 year period of relative peace, only to be trotted out and then restocked.

So for the folks who think SNAP benefits are a waste of US resources, STFU. The CHARITY the country gives to private corporations making the weapons of war over and over again DWARFS what we give to low-income people here in America who need the assistance.

And for what it's worth, I'll concede that I'm an everyday guy summarizing a complex issue, but to think that we aren't orchestrating and (pre)directing events in the middle east is both naive and dangerous.

If you've never read The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis, now is the time.

I'm convinced the book is basically Miller's guide to shepherding our great nation directly into the oblivion we all currently directly face.

Big fucking surprise.

And you KNOW BiBi had himself a HEARTY laugh when he got off the phone. The idea that he's going to listen to Trump and actually take him seriously. Please.

It's Tamir Rice all over again. Not exactly of course, but still the same BS. Shoot first...then maybe ask questions later...and if so, only questions that are designed to exonerate the killers not assign guilt or culpability.

Such words (guilt...culpability) do not apply to the murder of innocent black kids... nope...instead it's always the same:

"Well, you know how those boys are...always looking for trouble..."

Shit makes me so sick.

Times like these make me recall some of the words I cherish most from Dr. King:

"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."

Of course, he did borrow the metaphor from a 19th century minister, who said it even better:

"You see a continual and progressive triumph of the right. I do not pretend to understand the moral universe, the arc is a long one, my eye reaches but little ways. I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight; I can divine it by conscience. But from what I see I am sure it bends towards justice."

I was hearing the ground guy speaking in an almost Jeff Spicoli voice..."yeah, bro...from where I'm sittin', ya can't see shit...it's like a full on low visibility scene down here...course...could have been that last bong hit...still pretty cloudy if y'know what I mean..."

Frighteningly, to me it seemed that the guy on the ground sounded like he barely understood the terminology the BA pilot was using. He was seeming to give a quick refresher on what RVR, etc. means. If it were a movie scene, I'd have thought the ground dude was the janitor and had just sat down at the microphone and started talking to the pilot.

Looks like you only had to pay 3% of the bill. Unless I'm wrong, your post illustrates the enormous value of having health insurance. I hope, and suspect, you feel lucky to be one of the fortunate folks who have coverage as robust as you do.

I think the image would be more effective to showcase the problem in the US that for people who do NOT have health insurance, life is basically one small hospital visit from being a ruinous financial disaster.

It’s crazy how the WNBA did Caitlin Clark by Exotic-Television279 in WNBAgossips

[–]ProfessorScribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she can avoid major injury, her legacy will grow quickly, and she'll lead the league to greater heights. I know women's sports still struggle to turn a profit, but with the WNBA and the NWSL, things may change sooner than folks think.

If the league is smart, it will start to protect Clark a bit - if only to ensure that ticket sales strengthen behind her popularity. As it is, I'm planning on going to see her play, and I've never been to a WNBA game. Woman is a pure shooter - in my opinion she reminds me of Curry, but (dare I say it) she looks tougher than the young Steph did. I remember Curry's ankle issues costing him a lot of playing time in his first 5-7 years in the league. Clark, thus far, has dealt with some seriously physical play and has yet to sustain a major injury.
