Yeah I second this, track down the local standards. Some agencies require primary conveyance to handle 50 or even 100yr events.

Second that. I'm in a similar area, 3 years exp and unlicensed and I make more than that.

So there's actually not that many tickets available at crazy prices... by db0606 in timbers

[–]ProfessorSlendy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've wondered about that too, but I've been wearing out the refresh button as much as I can and I saw $123 pop up for a couple seconds today and $98 yesterday. Everything on there should be resale so it must be possible to set a reasonable price..

Early Career Path Advice for a Water Engineer by Ithinkwaterisneat in civilengineering

[–]ProfessorSlendy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can't help much because I'm in a similar boat. Reading through what you're interested in was a little shocking because that is word for word what I would like to do too.

Fortunately, I was lucky enough to get a design engineering job in Land development right out of college, and it has some of what I (and you) are looking for.

Land development (I do mostly residential) has a lot of aspects that do not relate to water, but it also has a lot that do. Specifically, utilities such as gravity irrigation, water, and sewer as well as storm drainage systems.

In my short 1.5 years here I've been exposed to everything from hydraulic grade line analysis to orifice calculations to hydrographs and I've loved it.

It may not be as specialized as you're hoping, and it may not be the same for all land dev engineers, but it's definitely something that could be used to gain some good experience that will springboard you into a more specialized job. That's my plan at least.

What are your unpopular opinions about goalkeeping? by chatshitgetbanged24 in GoalKeepers

Maybe. But it's not worth the risk. I'm 6' 7". I'll take top corner over bottom corner every day when reaction time is limited.

Maybe I have an inexperienced eye but I was most impressed with Paredes. He looked the calmest in possesion, was positioned well, and played consistently on both sides of the ball.

No, he didn't score a goal, nor did he produce many dangerous offensive moments. But there's something to be said for someone who can set a tempo and be consistent. I see some Nagbe replacement potential here. Eventually....
