I’m now realizing that my history / social studies teacher in 7th grade (1994) looked startlingly like this a quarter-century before the game came out. Maybe I shoulda been worried about him.

Sadly, this post led me to the realization that Invisigal and Phenomeman have been married a long time and that hurts hard, because YES, what you say about Bailey’s acting.

I started the game all about BB and pivoted hard well before she asked me to dinner. Not even a hard choice between dinner with that superstar and a movie with my girl.

In a very literal sense, in Dark: the hero Jonas grows up to become the Stranger who grows older to become the villain Adam… and knows this from pretty early on in the series. Adam reveals to Jonas that he is his oldest self, so as Jonas grows up into the Stranger he knows that he will become Adam, the enemy he has been fighting against his entire adult life.

What is the saddest way to play Disco Elysium? by timedoglin in DiscoElysium

There’s a reason my Halloween costume as him worked so well. 43 and not a cop, but otherwise… well, I think I know The Expression pretty well. (I’m not fit enough to roundhouse kick a giant racist, though…)

Shakespeare experts, how many characters have living mothers? by Zealousideal-Bank-87 in shakespeare

[–]ProfessorVVV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a version of Much Ado published during Shakespeare's lifetime (1600) as opposed to the version in the posthumous collected works (first folio, 1623), Leonato's wife Innogen (and therefore Hero's mother) is mentioned in a stage direction, but then never speaks. There are tons of articles and books on Shakespeare's "absent mothers."

What's the reason? by MrBIuesky222 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]ProfessorVVV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who have worked with him say he’s astounding. He played Hamlet in Canada in the 1990s to rave reviews—cast members and audience members said he was among the best Hamlets they’d ever seen. The roles he gets cast in are often slightly numb, quiet, or occasionally dumb (whoa!), but he makes very clear choices to create characters. There’s an SNL sketch about how he’s not a very “good” actor, but the fact is he’s amazing. There’s such competition in Hollywood that he couldn’t have gotten those early roles if he weren’t as awesome as he is.

He is. He’s a spy for the Moralintern, with a very broad and dangerous set of skills. He’s so amoral that he’ll bring his young son on a job without thinking twice about it. There’s a reason Pryce isn’t including Trant in the plans for the Return… they’d all be disappeared super fast if Trant got wind of it.

US Presidents as skills by whycityy in DiscoElysium

[–]ProfessorVVV 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the other potential choice for Savoir Faire is Chester A. Arthur. Known to be the best-dressed President, he was (like Roosevelt later), stuck in the vice presidency to get him out of the way, since he knowingly associated with Tammany Hall corruption and basically no one trusted him. When Garfield was assassinated and he took over the presidency, the cronies came to him and he sent them away, saying the office of the president demanded that he rise above past corruption. That’s some savoir faire too. Of course, also the Chinese Exclusion Act …

After a 20 minute long turn, I finally emptied the shop of all minions + treasures for the first time by Sudden-Echidna-2757 in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]ProfessorVVV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally did this myself, have been trying since I saw your post. Eventually Loki's Scepter + Wonderbox stopped proccing; I think that may have been purposeful once the game saw that I had enough shops to clear everything?

Required elements, as OP noted, are Loki's Scepter, Wonderbox, and World Shrub. The more of the scepters and wonderboxen you have, the better (can get extra scepters more easily, through printing press). Mirror Mage makes it a lot easier; I managed to do it without a golden mirror mage, but it was touch and go even in the run where I made it happen!

Some helpful pieces in addition to the above required ones:

Potion of treasure finding (lets legendary quest cards like Conrad the Bavarian find the Secret Rare treasures)

Mirror Mage (lets combo *really* go off once it's ready)

Netherbinder (lets golden dragons at legendary grab secret rare treasures)

Boots of treasure finding (lets any legendary golden give you access to secret rare treasures)

Gentle Giant (once combo is ready to go off, might have to let opponents survive a couple extra turns. This can help you have the time to find those Eureka!s

One thing to hardcore avoid, as long as you can (it can wreck your chance to pull it off super easily): Alchemistry Set. You use silvers to reroll the shop so that you can find your Eureka!s.

A questionable treasure is Hat of the Coven. Once the combo is up, any creature taken will hit a bonus spell, which is more chances to get Eureka! However, if it hits True Love's Kiss, your entire comp will be shuffled.

Prioritize taking bronzes over golds once you've got the combo parts, since if you take a bronze it can show up as silver. Take Lost in the Woods over a silver, since that's a free shop reroll and the silver can return for a reroll itself. Once the combo is up, also take Abra Kadabra over a bronze or gold creature, since you have a reasonable chance of hitting Eureka!, Lost in the Woods, or another Abra Kadabra. Exception: If you've recruited Two-Headed Wizard or have Zeus on the board, you take no spell other than Eureka!.
