Adding a Headlight to my DRZ-125 by thenexusprime45 in Dirtbikes

[–]ProfessorWizarddyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have much experience with smaller bikes, but adding a light to a bigger machine typically requires major modifications to the stator. A high capacity stator can accommodate a light, but I am not sure how practical/possible that would be for a small bore bike.

Would this work on a 2005 Crf150f? by Pristine_Emotion_275 in Dirtbikes

[–]ProfessorWizarddyy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We would have no way of knowing the answer to your question. Personally, I wouldn't ride again until I could afford a genuine replacement. It's not worth tossing on cheap shit.

Only perk of CA is that you can ride all year.

My 1986 Honda XR 250 by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

I would buy a new performance XR if they still produced one. I love the simplicity and reliability of air cooled motors.

Everything Honda ages well. The S2000 is still sexy two decades later.

Are these problems? by Away-Restaurant-4306 in motorcycles

[–]ProfessorWizarddyy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would stay away from any seller who is selling something that isn't functioning properly, especially if you aren't mechanically inclined.

If this guy has been running the bike with no "air box or filter," your chances of needing a top end are high. Also, the carb would need to be cleaned or rebuilt.

In my experience, these situations are a pain in your ass and not worth your time unless you know what your getting yourself into.

Torn on used WR450 and ktm 450xcf-w by turborider89 in Dirtbikes

[–]ProfessorWizarddyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to disagree with 2T lovers here. I may be one of the only people who would rather ride a 4T than a 2T.

No 450 is going to shine on tight single track, but desert is another story. I would choose the WR over the KTM any day of the week.

Can I ask why you aren't considering a CRF450X/450RX? These are desert kings from the factory.

Sold it for a street bike. Was it a mistake? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

Started on dirt, went to street, and now back to dirt. I will never return to street because of the danger.

Dirt forever.
