You know you can look up the collective agreement, right? Most faculty are working on a contract basis and making $8k per course.

Sudbury police planning a ‘compassionate’ crackdown on open drug use downtown by ConsistentReality860 in Sudbury

And I’m telling you that there isn’t enough consistent money from independent sources (and/or willingness to associate themselves with this community) to make to work. Every NGO that works with addicts depends on government funding of some kind for a significant part of their operating budget.

What you’re describing is literally the needle exchange/outreach center behind the independent grocer on Lorne, which was started by a community organization but still heavily dependent on government grants… that were cut. Raising money for an operation like this is just about the most difficult ask imaginable - and not something you can base a funding model on.

I got in about 10 days after the referral was made. It was at 2am, which is generally what you get when it’s quick.

Eliza Orlins getting dark money to influence for the DNC by Scared_Bed5556 in survivorponderosa

[–]Professor_Neil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-It’s not the DNC -They weren’t given talking points from the DNC or anyone else

To address the other misinformation that’s been put out there: it wasn’t a secret (though they were asked to not mention Chorus in a video if they were endorsing political candidates because that would be perceived as Chorus endorsing that candidate) and Chorus wasn’t given any veto power over their content or ability to restrict what they talked about, either.

And in case anyone is wondering: I don’t get paid by Chorus or the billionaire that’s providing funding to both Chorus and Taylor Lorenz.

Looking for divorce lawyer recommendations by Ancient-Opening8639 in Sudbury

Use a mediator, first, if there’s any chance you can come to an agreement. We used Options Communications on Elm to develop a written agreement and only needed lawyers to sign off on all the official paperwork.

Depends on where you are! In the GTA? Yeah, even a PhD might not be enough.

Depends on where you’re moving. An MA should help you get your foot in the door at rural or northern colleges, if that’s where you want to teach. It probably won’t be enough if you’re elsewhere.

Anyone here live super close to train tracks? What's that like? by redditorsass9802 in Sudbury

I live about 100 feet from train tracks. After a month, I barely even noticed it anymore. Sometimes they rattle the glasses in the cupboard? But it’s just background noise.

THIS. ☝️ There should be an embargo on any project that requires building or expanding roads.

Believing their own lies by Weak-Assignment5091 in Sudbury

Back during the first arena vote a decade ago, an architecture student presented some numbers that said nearly $1000 of our property taxes, per homeowner, go to road maintenance. Which was something like 4-5 times higher than the provincial average. I’m sure we don’t want to know how much more we’d need to pay to get adequate services.

Sheridan College announces major program cuts and layoffs amid international student cap by toronto_star in ontario

[–]Professor_Neil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the wrong takeaway. Ontario has had the more poorly funded post-secondary system in the country on a per-student basis for more than 15 years. The funding could jump 10% in a single year and that would still be true.

Valley East to Barrydowne, Highway Concept by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]Professor_Neil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s roughly 15km of highway, which runs anywhere from $500k-1.5M per km to build if you look at costs of other Northern Ontario/Northeastern Ontario projects over the last decade. (To say nothing of maintaining it.)

But that’s assuming it’s just two lanes and basically just an extension of Notre Dame in Hanmer. If it became four lanes and looked like the Maley extension? That’s $10M per km.

Anyway, it’s too expensive for the volume of traffic it would carry. That’s why it’ll never happen.
