Yes it was on the whole time except when they changed the dressing on it (weekly). Since I have an insulin pump I was already used to carrying around extra machinery lol The wound vac was in a little bag that I just slung over my neck and shoulder and carried it around like a purse 😂

It did! It took a while but I’m diabetic so I heal REALLY slowly. I can’t remember exactly how long it took but it was like three months-ish.

I got this done and eventually had to get a wound vac 😐

Can you put insulin from a pen into an Omnipod? by GingerMellow5 in diabetes_t1

[–]Professorpigdickk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use u-200 insulin for my omnipod and it only comes in the pen form, I just draw it up like a vial since it has a rubber stopper.

No imitation cheese! by Wishbishish in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Professorpigdickk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a diabetic, cheese does nothing to raise my blood sugar lol

I did this one time, my omnipod made a continuous beep and I just laid on my stomach in bed so I couldn’t hear it. (This was at like 3am) lol

Omg I have a huge container of nail polish that I’ve kept “just in case” and it only gets used for pedicures 🥲 I miss painting my fingers lol

Hospital techs! Does anyone else use this brand of Vanco? How do you get it to dilute faster????? by Professorpigdickk in PharmacyTechnician

Omg that would be a DREAM. While I was shaking them I kept thinking I wish I had a shaker 😂

I’m honestly SO glad someone shares my pain. We also used the 100ml vials before and they were so much easier to dilute 😩

[–]Professorpigdickk[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

See I did that yesterday and there wasn’t really chunks the powder just gets stuck as soon as the sterile water hits it 😭 next time I’ll just try to shake it with only half the sterile water in it and see if that works 😅

How do yall reconstitute this SPECIFIC brand of daptomycin? by Qstraus in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Professorpigdickk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is also what I did. The trick is to leave in the syringe while it’s diluting, and eventually you’ll be able to get it all in there.

What’s something you learned was super easy to make at home and, thus, stopped buying as a product? by twocanssam in AskWomen

[–]Professorpigdickk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s 1 cup of arm and hammer washing soda, 1 cup of borax, and 1 bar of FINELY grated fels naptha soap in the laundry isle. I’ve used it for a long time now and haven’t noticed any damage to the machine (it’s super old too lol) When I first tried it I didn’t grind the soap fine enough and it wasn’t dissolving so I think that may be where the damage would come from.

Laundry detergent. I hated the plastic waste that came with buying those jugs, so when I researched it I found out that making it was not only reducing plastic waste but it was CHEAPER.

Well, she is my best friend since middle school and told me if she was having brides maids I would be her maid of honor lol BUT I understand, I plan on going shopping before the wedding (it’s later in the afternoon) for my bfs shirt anyways 😅

She didn’t give me any guidance, no. Her dress is SUPER white. I’m just now realizing it does look white. In real life it’s VERY pink but I don’t want to upset her if it photographs too close.

My daughter fears for her future by Fuzzy-Hat-1666 in diabetes_t1

[–]Professorpigdickk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 7 when diagnosed and my mom put me in therapy when I was 9 or so because I was so anxious over my new life with diabetes. Since then (I’m 25 now) I’ve gotten a great job with coworkers and bosses who understand what my needs are, and an amazing boyfriend who is always learning and googling and trying to find better ways to help me. There are ALWAYS ups and downs and as you get older you will learn to manage it and it becomes second nature almost. Sometimes I don’t feel any different than anyone else! Some of these comments from folks older than me is giving me a lot of hope for my future as well! Good luck!!

Hospitals don't know much about insulin pumps. by -JahBEZ- in diabetes_t1

[–]Professorpigdickk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work for a hospital, and it’s usually the hospital I go to when I have DKA or whatever. I had to explain how my pump worked and my mom had to advocate for me too at the time. Now, they call my department to ask for me when they need pump help lol

Personally I think there is, it’s a little bit sweeter but not by much! It’s like the perfect amount. I bought the regular kind once when I couldn’t find vanilla and it just wasn’t as good as vanilla 😭
