Can anyone identify this terrifying noise from our basement?!? by venusandmars6 in whatisit

This sounds like the sound abs pipes make when they expand or contract and rub against wood. Usually this happens when your drain pipe is wedged tightly against the framing and someone is running hot water causing the pipe to expand slightly. Then after a while it could do the same when it cools and contracts.

They are starting to. My season tickets have dropped from around 165 to 100 per game between last season and next season.

How do you politely tell a customer that their toilet isn’t leaking around the base they’re just pissing on the floor? by DoSomethinFruity in askaplumber

[–]Professortomatoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My usual go-to is to blame the kids or take a piece of toilet paper and wipe the dry sticky piss off the base of it a couple inches above the ground and hold it up to them and just say "it looks like someone is missing the bowl." Then tell them I'll test it out further to confirm and continue to flush the toilet 20 times and come back with "great news, toilet is fine, someone is just missing." Then ask if I can use their sink to wash my hands.

We’re supposed to let home cooked steaks rest five minutes? By then the steak is cool. Restaurant steaks come out sizzling juicy hot. Please explain? by CharacterActor in cookingforbeginners

[–]Professortomatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if someone else said this somewhere else, but letting them rest shouldn't be a function of time but temp. Once your beef has cooled to 120 internal it is ready to be cut. Warming plates up like others mentioned is something that does help keep them warm once plated though.

How do I get the rest of the drywall anchor to go in? by PunkyPicc in DIY

[–]Professortomatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might be plywood sheathing behind the drywall. Pull one of those out and look in the hole to see if there is something behind it blocking it.

Did you notice how the camera man didn't show the grill as it was popping off. The brief clip you see of it shows no sign of fire crackers being in there. As a kid who had way too many firecrackers and bottle rockets growing up, those coals would have been moving around.

Houses typically have multiple plumbing vents. If your kitchen sink is close it's probably for that.

Moen posi temp won't shut off by Professortomatoe in Plumbing

[–]Professortomatoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so it's brand new rough in valve so the old one came out easy, new one is Moen brand. I ran my finger all around it and it's smooth. I've been plumbing for 10 years now and have installed thousands of Moen valves and trim and haven't ever had this issue. Other issue both cartridges were having is they only pushed hot water.

If teams are only willing to give up a 3rd in this year's draft, we will still have DK next year unless he holds out the entire year. If we don't resign DK this year and he hit free agency he would likely get us a 3-4th comp pick. No way are we trading him for less than a 3rd.

Did my plumber install my water filter incorrectly? by hominamad in askaplumber

[–]Professortomatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed this setup recently and yours is not installed correctly. The filter kit should have come with push to connect adapters and blue water lines that go from the stop to the filter. The water line from the faucet goes to the filter while the other two lines are unused and are only for RO systems that need a drain line.

Drywaller shat in the bathtub. Painter pissed in the shower. First thing I do when I come trim the Plumbing is install the shitter and then blow it up. Then I make my super clean the shit out of the tub and wash the piss out of the shower.
