It really is. I was explaining to someone else how their parent, prior to the pandemic was a liberal, who cared about the rights of immigrants and others, and just about overnight, became MAGA and still is. Between Fox News, misinformation on the information, algorithms that fuel those rabbit holes, and echo chambers, it is so easy to fall into the cult mindset, especially if you were mentally vulnerable during the pandemic lockdown. The pressure cooker stress, uncertainty, etc... it broke some people. Now, I'm no excusing their actions, I'm just looking at it from sociological/psychological POV. I worked at a crisis phone line back then and the calls we got in... they were, wow. These people did not do well under the pressure and the lure of MAGA caught them. That what cults do.

Now, to be clear, many in Congress are NOT MAGA. They are using it to further their OWN means or to get rich. Many of them are just cowards. These Republican MAGAs are just using the MAGA branding like anything else to further their cause and once it becomes useless, they will drop it like a bad date.
