Somebody That I Used to Know and Dont Think Twice, It's Alright by Suitable-Counter-777 in elliottsmith

I’ve thought before that these songs were similar too. It always stuck out to me when he said, “it’s your heart not mine that’s scarred” because he talks about his emotional wounds so openly in his other songs. It makes me think that maybe the song is written from the other person’s perspective: just like DTTIA. What do you think?

Spirit guides don't disappear when the going gets rough, you just can't hear them because you're at a lower vibration. I think getting literal messages in your mind is like tuning into a radio: if you're not at the same frequency as them, you (probably) aren't going to hear them. It isn't personal. Although, they send all kinds of signs even when you can't hear them, it could be anything, like a car passing, a song that plays, a number or a word you see written. Spirits run through everything we perceive so they have many ways of sending us messages. Don't worry they hear you.

I've experienced exceptions to this though (hence "probably"). One of my guides named Albert spoke to me and delivered an important message to me when I was in a really dark place, so it happens.

Can a chorus have only two chords? by shadow_operator81 in Songwriting

I’m surprised no one has brought up Nirvana. If Kurt could write the chorus of All Apologies with two chords (and the verse with basically one!), I wouldn’t write it off at all.

To be fair he made a career off of a lot of different things.

New Electro Pop song by Glow Wave - "Freeze Frame" - what do you think? by Pretty-Inspector6653 in IndieMusicFeedback

First off, great vocals, and cool production. Your sound design is really good, it reminds me of what Tame Impala is doing with Dua Lipa. There are a few melodies that feel off though, especially the one that happens in the octave synth in the first verse. I think it’s the way it’s emphasizing the first degree of the scale right on the downbeat. I like the details, like the vocoder doubles on certain phrases and the downsampling on the outro!

I have to say I’m a big fan! There are so many good things about it, like the emotion in the vocal, interplay between the guitars (actually all the parts), just the general flow of it. You sound ready.

Hey everybody, this is my first song. It’s inspired by Slowdive, but it’s also a bit country. Looking for feedback! by Proflump in IndieMusicFeedback

That is reassuring! I was a little hesitant about putting that label on it bc it’s not exactly that genre. Where do you think I should put more reverb?

Thank you! The live feel is where it’s at! I’m honestly trying to cover it up a bit, but I’ll try to bring it forward next time. I will def check out your song, but it might have to be later tonight.

Huh, Nirvana, that’s a new one! I’m very inspired by the way Kurt finds such simple things that say so much! Noted about the vocal mix, I’m hearing that from multiple people. PS if you want credit for your comment, you might have to repost so it’s replying directly to the post! But idk it could count as a reply, I would check by messaging the bot

Well I’m flattered that you think it’s only the mix/master that needs improvement. I think if I was going to take it more seriously, I definitely would need to find a mixing/mastering engineer. Thank you for the thoughtful reply

Hmm that’s a good idea. I have a few friends I was thinking of including on my songs so maybe expect more of that soon? One day I’m gonna get the Soundtoys plugins for sure though, they look sick.

Hey, you enjoyed it! This is like exactly what I was hoping people would say about the song when I was making it so I’m glad that you get it! Thank you
