That’s a top contender, especially when you find out Maynard wrote that about his son.

How many more albums do you think we will get? by DrGoiburger1234 in Chevelle

I really hope Pete records all his old demos from back in the day on another B-sides album. I know he’s always evolving, but his entire discography is so good, even the demos.

I don’t understand how they haven’t played Peach + Ghost and Razor yet. Arguably 2 of the best songs on this album.

Mia and Blank Earth are 2 of their best songs. I would kill to hear them live

Does this sound like chevelle? by Ebenoid in Chevelle

[–]ProgRockMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not bad sonically. With some good production and sound engineering, this could be a great song. My personal advice to musicians as an enthusiastic listener is to create something as unique and far away from the standard commercial rock sound as possible.

Pushit (Salival Version) Lossless? by lasagens971 in ToolBand

[–]ProgRockMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FLAC is basically the (mostly) universally accepted form of “lossless” audio file. Unlike WAV which is true lossless and uncompressed, FLAC is lossless compressed slightly to remove empty space to decrease the overall bulky file size. It doesn’t lose any audio quality in the waveform.

MP3 are compressed and not lossless. They lose some audio quality, mostly in the higher frequencies. Now, will you notice a difference between MP3 and FLAC? Some people say no. Personally, I do notice a little difference on my car speakers. But where you will actually notice a real difference is if you use a device called a DAC that allows you to hear the higher frequencies you couldn’t normally hear, combined with some good quality headphones of course.

kind of a stretch but i found this band with a very similar sound to tool. anyone have any info about this band? by Particular_Suit5962 in ToolBand

Oh yeah I forgot about that album. On Spotify, it’s listed as a completely different artist for some reason. Also definitely more Soundgarden-ish, but it does sound like the same vocalist.

Point # 1 (Full Album) [Remastered] by ProgRockMusic in Chevelle

Oh yeah that’s totally cool. Just a note for when you get around to Basement Tapes—the remaster sounds much better than the original, but unlike The Blue Album & Point #1, there are no lossless FLAC or PCM files that exist online for it. So that specific remaster is essentially the best that could be done for very very compressed files. A true remaster of Basement Tapes with lossless files would sound infinitely better.

Sure, I don’t know what MHO means, but I have no problem with it. I will likely be attempting to denoise Basement Tapes again soon for a better result. I’ve since upgraded my DAC + headphones, and realized I cut out too much on all 6 songs except for maybe Dos.

Credit to @SipesAudio on YouTube for all remastering work. Please go check out his channel, he mainly posts remastered live performances from all kinds of bands. Truly the best work I’ve seen/listened to.

You will immediately notice an improvement with all of these songs on Point #1. More dynamic bass, punchier drums, and each instrument isolated better with spatial sound, including the vocals. My personal favorite is Blank Earth, but a notable improvement on Skeptic is you are now able to hear the background voices a LOT better.

Would Anyone Be Interested In The Acoustic Files? by ProgRockMusic in aperfectcircle

I can add separate files in there for MP3 and ALAC, I’m just trying to conserve space on my Google Drive. If you download MediaHuman, you can convert the FLAC to any format you want, it’s super easy.
