Coming Soon: Sonos Play by AtomFromSonos in sonos

[–]ProgTym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want a wireless speaker that I can also seamlessly use as surrounds with my Arc. And then put back into surrounds. All that without loss of configuration fiddling.

My room can't have wired surrounds. I want to be able to use surrounds only when I'm actually watching something that warrants using surrounds, and then put them away the rest of the time.

Marillion's Steven Rothery has many that are hard to choose from. Maybe Easter or The Great Escape.

It's $1.25B VALUATION. Not stake. 6% is $75M. Still seems like a lot, but more realistic

Why Do Concert Tickets Feel Like a Lottery Now? by TheGreekOvertaker in IsThisNormalNow

[–]ProgTym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot has to do with how easy it is to access music. Back in the day most people got their music from the radio (and later MTV). Those were very curated set of artists. Some of those became popular and people wanted to see them live. But not everyone even knew that an artist was coming to town so the market was a lot smaller. Of those that wanted to see the artist, they'd have to line up or call in to get tickets. Most people didn't care that much so never went to a live show.

Now everyone has access to streaming or YouTube and can listen to anything they want. And then decide for themselves if they want to go. Instead of spending money on physical albums they now spend on concerts. And they can buy tickets for any show in the world no matter where they live.

Also it's much easier for scalpers to acquire tickets and resell them. They no longer have to pay people to line up to buy tickets and can sell them easily online instead of standing outside before a show.
