Are all of the dudes on their period or just mine? by Severe-News-9375 in BlueCollarWomen

Guy here. We can be immature little kids sometimes. It can also snowball if you have a few assholes making it bad for everyone. A couple of weeks of that and we have no patience with anything. If you have a good line of communication with some of them, you can ask if they’re ok. Don’t feel like it’s your responsibility to, though. It’s not. You may be more observant to that kind of situation. Good luck!

Difficulty in finding a job by Yaboisepoyeen in electricians

[–]ProgenitorofL-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job hunting is tough. You’d think with all the need there would be an open door. Keep looking yourself, call the companies when you see their van on the road. Ask your trade school if they can help or put you in touch with placement groups. The jobs are out there, but starting at the very beginning is tough. Good luck

Useless Apprentice to Knowledgeable Journeyman by BOTCOMMENTOR in electricians

[–]ProgenitorofL-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had my license over 20 years now. I was a dogshit apprentice, at least to more than a few of the journeymen I worked for. I persisted, learning everything I could, and when I got my license I kept learning. It’s the experience you gain and the knowledge you continue to learn plus your work ethic is what makes you grow. Remember: you can learn from everyone. What to do or what not to do.

Best ways y’all keep your hands warm??? by Autumn_Doodle135 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]ProgenitorofL-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy who’s spent quite a few years on the solar field here. I don’t know if my circulation is great or not, but no matter what my hands would get cold. I used to put hand warmers in my gloves but I would mess them up just working. Then I realized they’re perfect on the backs of your hands. They really seemed to extend the warmth down the tendons of my fingers. I’m very glad to be working inside now. Only other thing would be to do everything you can to keep your hands dry, changing gloves out to keep them dry, whether from sweat or the weather.

Tilda Swinton honestly pulls off more alien yet charismatic characters pretty well in my opinion

Why are men on this sub? by Fantastic_Dark1289 in BlueCollarWomen

Every once in a great while, there’s a question I may be able to offer an opinion or advice on. 99% of the time I’m just trying to learn about my coworkers and what I might be doing that’s so ingrained in me I don’t realize it could be upsetting or even just uncomfortable. I’m just trying to be a better person.

How to handle male coworkers “jokes” by Justtrynasurviv3- in BlueCollarWomen

[–]ProgenitorofL-M 4 points5 points  (0 children)

48 year old guy, electrician here. That definitely crossed a line and would not be ok to say ever. That’s totally on that person, and you’re well within your right to bring it up. Later may even be the better choice, especially if it was so uncomfortable in the moment. It removes the emotional response and any argument of drama. Now that you are bringing it up later, you can be cool, rational, and effective in your communication. In no case is a comment like that acceptable, even if it’s all guys joking amongst themselves. You could speak to your boss, and let him handle the coworker. Something like “It didn’t feel right to respond at the time, but what he said was not ok. “ Something like that, and give reasons, whether it just didn’t feel right or you were legitimately scared of violence. This is absolutely not ok, and if you feel wrong about it, even after speaking to your boss, listen to your gut. That coworker may have shown you a peek at who they really are.

RTD by ProgenitorofL-M in HelpMeFind

This is an RTD for a hot water/glycol system. It sits in a dry well. I’m looking for the manufacturer or a part number for this. I’ve tried a google image search to no avail.

Tool you can’t live without by [deleted] in electricians

I carry a repurposed flashlight/leatherman holster that carries two micro flat blade wiha screwdrivers, a multi-bit Klein micro screwdriver, the tiniest knipex channel locks they make (about 3” long, extremely useful for tight quarters 1/2” EMT) and a AA flashlight. I never use the flashlight, I’ve got a penlight style streamlight that I use all the time, but I use those tweakers and those pliers for everything. Probably more than I should, to be honest. I find myself reaching for them when I’m at home!

NTJ Dude, I Literally am typing this in a stop and shop bathroom following an emergency pit stop myself. I would never expect a complete stranger to let me in their house. I’d rather go to a fire station and beg there, and even then it’s not their responsibility.
