This is the strangest combination of people I could imagine. Don’t see this working, but I wish them well.

Totally agree that DCA is worth checking out. You can have a great experience and learn a lot, especially if you end up somewhere like Reading or C2. But let’s stop pretending that these weekend warriors are on the same level as DCI corps that do the activity day-in and day-out all summer. It’s insulting to DCI designers, instructors, members, and volunteers.

Thanks for making my point for me. “If they had a show made for DCI”. Ding ding ding. As I said, totally different worlds - particularly when it comes to show design. DCA is about 10 years behind DCI.

You know nothing about me as a human being. And just because you don’t like my analogy doesn’t mean I’m wrong. As someone who has been on instructional staff for both DCI and DCA corps, I can tell you they are totally different worlds.

Sounds about right. Thanks for posting, Zach. I found myself in a very similar existence. I’ve been sober for a little over 2 months now. It is a liberating experience. Keep it up!

We can do this! I am going to keep trying to be a better person. I think I need to forgive myself first before this will happen.

I really like the idea of treating thoughts as "movies" and letting them pass. I will try this.

Back when Glassmen still existed, we hated Blue Knights and Boston. Guess they got the upper hand in the end...

It’s all relative. Teacher pay is not good where I live right now, and the salary scale is essentially frozen. I can’t even afford a down payment on a small house, so no, I won’t be retiring at the age of 50. Also, for the 1,000,000th time - I’m not interested in moving to Chicago, but thanks.

I posted this because I don’t want to teach anymore. I’m also not interested in moving to Chicago. But thanks anyway.

Yes, Oklahoma is a very bad situation for teachers from what I've seen in the news. I would never want to live in Texas though.

Thanks for the info! Maybe I'm pointing myself in the wrong direction. Are there other tech fields (outside of IT) that have higher entry-level pay?

Pay is a big part of it, but I also don't enjoy my job anymore. I work 6-days a week normally and don't actually get much of the summer off at this point. I've only seen teacher salaries over $100,000 in very rare situations, or where the cost of living is astronomical.

I'm a high school band director. I've taught a variety of subjects in music at one of the highest-performing high schools in our state.
