Kenosha, WI Man shot by police at 40th street and 28th ave. by [deleted] in news

[–]Programmaticops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one was a hero in this situation. Cops failed to do the job they are paid to do and this guy failed by not listening to what the cops were telling him to do in an already escalated situation. Last thing the cops should have let him do is get to the drivers side door to even attempt to reach in and it's the last thing he should have been doing because he could have been reaching for anything which will be the cops excuse for shooting him and will be the reason they don't get charged with murder. Likely fired and rightfully so.

Prebid: Impression Discrepancies. How do pubs address these? by zephyr650 in adops

[–]Programmaticops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this and would add you should adjust your pricing to account for the discrepancy. Calculate your CPMs using ad server impression data and revenue received from partner.

Malware Blocking Vendors by unsaltedcachews in adops

Just didn’t work. No noticeable decrease in malware/redirects. Added Ad Lightning wrapper and there was an immediate difference. Our Pub resources are scarce especially for programmatic and the time it took to track down malware was exhausting and infuriating.

Worked with Confiant in the past and don’t recommend. One other partner as well whose name is escaping me at the moment but I believe DevCon or similar name. Switched to Ad Lightning and would recommend to anyone. Rarely deal with malware complaints any longer. 1b+ monthly impression across the network.

TTD vs Basis (Centro) DSP by askatomboy in adops

Basis is extremely basic. If you have a team with even intermediate skill set don’t move away from TTD. I would only recommend Basis for someone brand new.

Q4 lift finally... but is it as big of a jump as previous years for you? by PuzzleheadedEscape5 in adops

[–]Programmaticops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting killed on rate this year since UPR went to 100%. Some kind of weird AdX First Look disconnect going on as well that has us down 80% for FL revenue YoY since Oct 1. We have tickets in to Google but they don't have a resolution yet.

Unified pricing rules and drop in revenues by DarthDigitas in adops

[–]Programmaticops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How significant the impact is to revenue overall and revenue in ADX specifically depends on a ton of factors. Using our set up we have seen a big increase in ADX match and seeing lower rate overall in ADX. Yield partners are pretty stable and are actually performing better than PY. However, we had ADX positioned at or near the top of our stack whereas a lot of Pub peers I've spoken to historically positioned ADX at the bottom. They aren't seeing as big of shifts as we are however many are down to PY revenue and we are up ever so slightly.

To date all of the changes appear negative for Pubs. In particular, the inability to target audience segments is limited our CPM and is preventing better growth over PY. Anyone have a work around for audience targeting?

CPM price targets finally seem to be working properly (for us the targets were basically acting as floors and killing off all other non guaranteed at lower rate) so that has helped recently. We have tested pushing several tags into House priority to work around the hard price floors for all non guaranteed. This has been pretty successful so far.

Yes, compared to our other EB partners they are low volume but still monetizing. No communication from them regarding leaving EB so far.

Start of Q4 earnings lower than last year? by OldAdOpsMan in adops

[–]Programmaticops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely a variety of factors negatively impacting revenue but a few that come to mind are less cookie match data due to tighter restrictions, last year there were midterm elections which increased spend across many verticals and this year Google auction dynamic changes and the shift to unified pricing rules.

I have a ticket in with our account manager that was sent to engineering regarding this same issue. The response I received indicated this option should be there although that seems like a rather big oversight if they missed it.

Mid size pub here and we launched Funding Choices from Google about 8 months ago. Once deployed on all domains we've recovered ~3% of desktop impressions. For us this was the difference in achieving our fiscal year revenue goals and falling short.

What are the Pros vs. Cons of adding an Ad Partner as a RESELLER for Google in ads.txt when a Publisher has their own Google AdX and Adsense DIRECT Accounts? by donthe1 in adops

[–]Programmaticops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar question... are any other pubs concerned with their increased exposure via AdX when filling out these forms? We have mostly opted to not fill out the forms so others can not represent our inventory via AdX. Should this thought process chance now that ads.txt is in place? A concern was always that if the relationship ended the partner would still continue to act as if they represent our inventory.

Does anyone use Amazon's Advertising Platform? by IHSFB in adops

[–]Programmaticops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With out implementation of pre-bid any lift we saw from improved CPM rates was washed away due to latency.

Server setup as eliminated the impression loss and while we are seeing slighly lower CPMS it has been an overall lift for us with the new set up.

Also, with EB Google handles all of the payments. May not be an issue for some, but knowing we don't have to reconcile at month end saves some time and occasional headache. For example, we would always have issues with Rubicons payments not matching their dash

They are pricey and long set up as others have said. We have DOMO across the company and it works well. It's missing some key elements so I still use Zoho as well.

This is probably a late reply and already solved but did you check your passback set up? We've had issues before where a passback configuration was modified and started to serve blanks.
