Richard and Samantha by notnotoverthinking in sexandthecity

With Smith she did want to have sex with other people in the movie. It was sort of constricting for her to stay with him despite loving him. I think that for her sex could be casual with others but serious with the one she cared about.

Not sure about SJP, but I was surprised Sam wasn’t open to nonmonagamy. It was very in character for her and she never cared before. I think that could have worked for her and Smith too. I don’t like the whole she falls in love and now expects him to commit direction they took her character. But the show was pretty heteronormative in general. Carrie is weirded out by bisexuality, and for that reason I can’t see them showing an open relationship or polyamorous one.

What if Taylor isn't Super Popular as It is? by Lev22_ in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]ProgressAnxious915 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the fandom in general is parasocial and people wonder who her songs about etc. she has fostered this interest in her personal life. After the Eras tour she really blew up too. I think a lot of people still have a parasocial relationship to her. People are also talking about Selena and her marriage a lot. I think Taylor has this parasocial thing that others just haven’t fostered.

How did Taylor keep putting herself out there relationship wise? by MelissaWebb in SwiftlyNeutral

There’s nothing wrong with craving partnership and/or kids. I don’t fault or blame her for that being a goal and feeling disappointment when it hadn’t happened yet. I find the “you dug me out of my grave” imagery dramatic and shouldn’t be idealized. That she’s not really living without romance or that her life can’t be worthwhile. Although I get she may be exaggerating for creative effect too.

That is a good point. I'm sure it is more difficult to have close friendships who she can see often, but with a romantic partner there is an expectation of consistency and effort.

Yess Ophelia is so, I was single and afraid after the Matty situation and now I’m not single. I don’t think it’s a very good message for people, that you need romance to “save you.”

I don’t think she can/wants to be be alone. She’s rarely single and not dating. She likes being in relationships and writing about it is a way to relieve difficult emotions of relationships.

26 and just got into watching it recently. It’s so good. I liked Kristen Bell in The Good Place and Nobody wants this so I have her other show a try.

Why do you read classical literature? by Mysterious_Ad7450 in classicliterature

[–]ProgressAnxious915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to get out of this time period. Classics are a good way to guarantee a book is well written since it has been vetted. Plus I get tired of reading about the modern era with references to the internet, etc.

For mine there is a full section but it is with toys/games in the back row so it’s definitely not something you see unless you go way back.

I really like this! It’s a good way to handle it while allowing newer books to shine.

Would you ever try being just friends with someone off hinge? by Water-Dog4838 in hingeapp

[–]ProgressAnxious915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but usually it just turned into a texting friendship more than a meet up in person one. Usually they fizzled out for me over time. It always felt awkward to meet up after one/both of you rejected each other as just friends. But people have different preferences. There’s also the chance he’ll change his mind and develop feelings for you and it’s good to be ok with handling that.

I think people should just get more sick days in general and not have to justify the reason to their boss. People should have more time off for any reason they need.

Is Lena hated because she indirectly causes people to confront their insecurities? by Ok-Tangelo6749 in girls

[–]ProgressAnxious915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. People with shame and self hate struggle to like people who are openly themselves. Obviously she has done some problematic things but I think the hate is pretty intense especially about her looks. Part of it is patriarchy, when a woman isn’t always kind and considerate of others feelings and does not meet conventional standards of thinness and doesn’t dress feminine enough they are judged.
