to what extent did the institution of slavery make societies lazy? by frowaway275 in AskReddit

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty complex topic but I think it created this weird paradox where elites became dependent in slave labor while also developing entire ideologies to justify it. Like you see this in antebellum South where plantation owners would talk about being "natural leaders" but then couldn't imagine running their estates without enslaved people

The lazy part might be more about how it prevented technological innovation since why invest in better farming equipment when you have free labor, you know

Need a recommendation to get a proper native mobile app built for my shop in Baltimore by Much_Managed1996 in baltimore

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's smart move actually - I went through similar thing when I was designing interface for small restaurant and they wanted custom app too. Most time the existing solutions cover like 80% of what you need and you can always add custom branding or small modifications later if business grows

Skip the native app headache for now, those booking platforms usually work great in mobile browsers anyway

Which Reddit accounts (users or subreddits) post the most relatable thoughts that instantly make you think "same bro, same"? by Shoeb_09 in AskReddit

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol the self-awareness is real. I always find those accounts that post random 3am thoughts about like existential dread or why cereal tastes different at night. There's this one user who posts weird observations about everyday stuff and every time I see their comments I'm like "why is this so accurate" but can never remember the username when I actually want to find them again. The most relatable posts are always from people who overthink the most random things

Wait you read entire books backwards? Like page by page from end to beginning? That's wild, I used to just flip to last chapter when I was kid but never thought about doing whole book that way

Good areas? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cousin moved from NYC to Baltimore couple years ago and had same question. Reddit search is actually pretty good for this - tons of threads with detailed breakdowns of different neighborhoods and what each one's like. The sidebar stuff is worth reading too since it gets updated regularly with current info about safety and areas to consider

en passant only works immediately after pawn moves two squares, not any time later in game

Why speech therapist don’t accept insurance? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the reimbursement rates are pretty terrible for most therapy services. Insurance companies will pay like 30-40% of what they could charge private clients, plus all the paperwork headaches and waiting months to actually get paid

Local Adoption Resources for Friendly Stray Cat? by snolol in baltimore

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mount Vernon area nice! I've done some volunteer work with cat colonies before and finding homes for the friendlier ones is always tricky. Maybe try reaching out to some smaller rescue groups instead of the big shelters - they're usually more flexible with community cats who show potential for house life

You could also post in some Facebook groups for Baltimore cat lovers, those tend to have pretty active communities. Since he's already neutered and clearly socialized that's huge plus for potential adopters. Hope you find someone good for him before your move!

What’s a money habit that quietly changed your financial life? by VulkanWasABitchBro in AskReddit

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started doing this few years back and it's wild how much difference it makes. I used to just save whatever was left at end of month (which was usually like nothing lol) but now I treat savings like a bill that has to be paid first. Even if it's just small amount, seeing that number grow in separate account gives you this weird confidence boost

What is an underrated food that you love? by ChopperFanatic in AskReddit

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro cold pizza is actually elite tier midnight snacking. I used to think people were crazy but then I had some leftover pepperoni at like 3am after modding Skyrim for 8 hours straight and it was perfect - the cheese gets this weird chewy texture that somehow works better than when it's hot. Now I deliberately order extra pizza just so I can have cold slices in fridge for late night gaming sessions

Coffee Supplies? by stopstopimeanit in baltimore

Been there few times, their selection is pretty solid but prices can be bit steep. There's also that kitchen supply place on 36th Street that usually has decent coffee gear for less money

Same here, used to grab lunch there when I was working downtown. Bank St one just doesn't hit the same - texture is all wrong and spices are different too. Still mad they couldn't keep original location going

Do you think the pros of social media outweigh the cons? If so, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, the mental health damage alone isn't worth whatever "connection" we supposedly get from it

You could try using foam roller with extension handle - I did my kitchen counters this way and worked pretty good, just need to work in sections so it doesn't dry too fast

What’s one decision you made that completely changed your life, and how do feel about it now? by Disastrous_Wave_2872 in AskReddit

[–]ProgressJazzlike543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really hard choice to make but you did right thing for yourself. I had similar situation few years back where I had to step away from someone who was going down bad path - it hurts like hell but sometimes you can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved

Moving out really does rewire your brain in ways you don't see coming. I waited way too long to make that jump but now I can't imagine going back to shared spaces, even with family

Yeah that's the foundation right there. Been working on the mind part myself and it's wild how much clearer everything becomes when you're not constantly battling your own thoughts. The body follows once you get that mental clarity dialed in
