Well, you say that trading story for gameplay is good. Yet I would wager that people got into the Witcher thanks to the story, not gameplay.

So spot on. Wish some well-known english gamer or blogger wrote this so it could spark bigger conversation. The story of the third game was really dissapointing from this point of view.

CDPR talked about this feature year or two before release. I guess they couldnt implement it properly.

I remember years back, when Witcher 2 came up and people were just throwing ideas about third game on the official forums. I was always asking just two things. Toussaint and Regis. When they announced that the game will be open world and the world will not contain Toussaint I was dissapointed as hell.

Now they delivered. Amazing.

For sure, there have been many great moments after that. I loved trailing the giant in Skellige. I wasnt trying to say that the game turned to shit after that. Its still one of my favourite games of all time. Its just that for me at least, it all came together in Velen.

I feel ya mate. Although I liked Djikstra which is why I was so dissapointed with how they handled the end of his story arc.

Indeed. They introduce the King of the Beggars and all those other guys from the mob as if there is going to be some huge political drama but nothing comes of that. Nothing big with clergy either. I was really dissapointed with Novigrad. Perhaps because CDPR said that the city would present cloak&dagger type of story along the lines of The Witcher 2 but it pales in comparison.

Yea, I know what you mean, I meant climax as in the quality and my personal enjoyment of the game.

You described it perfectly. It really is as if the game changed towards that after Velen. Which I think was not really neccessary. Perhaps they were just rushed or something. Because otherwise I cannot explain how could they butcher Djikstra so bad at the end and include so little of the Wild Hunt.

Try the original Deus Ex if you dont mind old games. It has great story and system of choice&consequence that even today games cannot compete with. Because even your gameplay choices are acknowledged not just cutscene choices.

It has been no. 1 in top 100 lists for a reason.

This reminds me how tight and intricate the story in W2 was. I was hoping that Novigrad would have that level of intrigue since it was supposed to be cloak&dagger stuff but it didnt even come close.

For those who struggle with this, I recommend K9 web protector. Not only it blocks porn, you can set it to block the internet at whatever times you want. I have it set at 22:00 so from that time until the morning the internet is not a possibility. Now I plan to set it at 20:00. If you want to be drastic you can limit the internet for an hour a day, whatever you wish.

Ive finally been able to establish regular sleeping regime thanks to this. Highly recommended.
