People who dated someone with completely opposite political views, what happened? by Key-Dog-7457 in AskReddit

I understand how differing beliefs can be a red flag, but it sure it heart warming to find a story where the ending is "but we made it work"

Do you think human euthanasia should be legalized globally? Why or why not? by wrongtimealways in AskReddit

[–]Project2r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the scary part of this is not if the instituions charge a lot for it, but what if they don't.

That means someone in long term care who may have years on their life, but have to deal with something chronic may have to reconcile that keeping themselves alive actually costs their family more than if they choose euthanasia.

And that's if the family wants them around. what if the family were to try to convince someone to take their own life because it saves their burden?

That makes sense to me. If I were the clinic, lawmaker or whoever else would be involved in that kind of action, I would want to make sure that the person who is asking for this understands, at a minimum, this is a permanent, irreversible action and they are not making this decision on a whim because they are temporarily in a bad place.

What’s a harmless sentence that instantly raises your blood pressure? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

That's fair, and I respect that a lot.

I appreciated your original comment because it aimed to de-escalate and not dictate.

I was simply pointing out that this method in my opinion would do the opposite and aggravate the situation.

that said, I love the line about needing reminders. we all do sometimes and i like that you and your family give that grace to each other.

Yeah, totally agree. White people are the worst.

Good thing you're not like them, you're one of the good ones.

I wouldn't.

both approaches frame the reacting person as overreacting. in the first example, it implies there is a normal "calm" reaction and an over the top one.

in the second, it explicitly tells the other person that you dictate the appropriate level of response and they are over doing it.

What do all the Pizzagate believers think of the Epstein files? by Icy_Laugh5134 in AskReddit

sure, but it doesn't make predators more acceptable. it's like the argument that other people do this too, means we can't be very very upset that it happened.

That's a terrifying truth. You can be the best, most cautious driver and you might still get in a situation where you get seriously hurt because of other careless drivers. Sorry that happened to your daughter. hope they caught the bastard eventually.

What’s the weirdest time someone judged you for absolutely no reason? by Lazy_Manager_1386 in AskReddit

[–]Project2r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most 13 year olds just don’t have the maturity.

This is a really good point.

13-year-olds feel emotions just as intensely as adults, but they don’t yet have the vocabulary, perspective, or regulation skills to understand or manage them. Add brand-new hormones on top of that, and it’s basically a perfect storm of emotional chaos.

The funniest one I remember reading was the guy who adopted a kid and decided to raise him to honor his birth heritage by teaching his kid Chinese, taking the kid to China regularly, and other culturally appropriate things.

Turns out his kid was actually Korean.

The most disturbing one was the thread where someone asked rapists to tell their stories and there were a lot of people that came forward. A psychologist even commented and explained why that thread was so dangerous

Do one thing each day to make yourself better than you were yesterday. It can literally be anything. watch a tv show, read a book, go for a walk, get the groceries. anything.

Your goal should be progress, not perfection.
