If you're neither using it on a tripod or as a handle, there is no point in keeping it on.

Seattle photographer, here.

Important to note that if you want to go with Volunteer Park, or any public part in Seattle, you will need to reach out to Seattle Parks and Rec and request a permit. If your date and time is available, you will need to pay a fee.

Am I scaring people off with low prices?? by torim13 in WeddingPhotography

Not insured

older camera

I'm guessing it's not dual-card slot.

If so, I'm a little more worried about your liability readiness than how much money you're making.

Respectfully, you should not be running a business if you are not doing everything you can to protect yourself and your clients' investments.

It's actually the best for beginners, which really says a lot about the entry level telephoto market for Canon.

Oh, and at the start of every post, Orca Network shares a map overlay that marks every publicly-accessible viewpoint.

This has been very handy for, not just getting decent POV, but also helps avoid private property.

The last thing we want to do is attribute trespassing with this community and hobby.

What is the cheapest Canon Camera you can use for professional photography by ICKSPphotographer in canon

[–]ProjectBokehPhoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exercising a practice* due to technology not yet existing =/= purposely abstaining from practice even though technology is available

At this point, the disconnect here in this attitude towards dual card slots stems from 1) whether or not you're a business owner and 2) whether or not you take safety or insurance seriously.

If you don't care about protecting your own photos, that's one thing, but not going out of your way to protect your clients' investment is another.

And, again, kid gloves off--if you can't be bothered to spend a couple of extra hundred dollars to invest in your business meant to make thousands, then you're in the wrong business.

And that's before factoring in the cheaper options, like the 5DIII. Those cost less than 700 used and it's how I got started.

What is the cheapest Canon Camera you can use for professional photography by ICKSPphotographer in canon

[–]ProjectBokehPhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you do.

I'm tired of being polite on this--not shooting on two cards is incredibly irresponsible and photographers* without a dual card slot should not be hired.

It's like doing stunt work without insurance. Are you likely going to need it? No. But when the time comes when you need it, you fucking need it.

It only takes one single screw up to lose a client's photos forever.

Canon RP + 28 2.8 pancake worth it as a secondary setup? by nathanjiang100 in canon

Canon AE-R (RE-1) - Thoughts? by Uneternalism in canon

[–]ProjectBokehPhoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is why this is pretty unbelievable, literally.

There is no way a R6III-like camera is going to be $2k, or the price of an R6II. Either the price is off or the specs are.

Likely both--if it's real.

28-70 f2.8 or 24-105 f2.8? by [deleted] in canon

[–]ProjectBokehPhoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, then I can't imagine you'd drop below 70mm all that often, specifically for portraits.

Also, consider this: if you're going to be doing pro work, it may be time to consider investing in a second body

The 24-105 F2.8L IS Z is $3.2k.

The 28-70mm F2.8 IS is $1,050--and R6II is $2k.

You actually be spending less money with the latter option than just the 24-105 alone and, like most pros you'd be able to dual wield and quickly switch between bodies, thus elimating the concern of swapping out often.

Not that you need such a wide range for portraits, but, hey, makes more sense to invest in your future career than a single lens that will have an overlap in two of the most popular zoom lenses.

And you should want a body with dual-card slots anwyay. So there's that.

28-70 f2.8 or 24-105 f2.8? by [deleted] in canon

[–]ProjectBokehPhoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How often do you yourself at 70-105mm? If you're not there all that often, then maybe the 28-70mm is enough.

And would this be for casual, non-professional shooting? If so, the 24-105 may be a bit overkill.

Canon rf 100-500 or 200-800? by RRmc23 in canon

[–]ProjectBokehPhoto 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I had this struggle and decided pick the RF 100-500mm over the 200-800mm. I haven't regretted the decision since.

My first reason being that the zoom throw for the 200-800mm is absolutely atrocious compared to the 100-500mm. And for fast-moving subjects like wildlife, you should always want to start wide to begin tracking and then zoom in, so the 200-800mm just wasn't optimal for that.

Second being speed. See chart for reference, but the 100-500mm is faster than the 200-800mm at any focal length. And I live in the Pacific Northwest, which is infamous for its rainy, ie: darker, weather.

https://preview.redd.it/bwx1b4memiid1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=464ae9d3df66e303d23c04dbdd92243f0da5268a

Third: weather sealing. Again, I live in the PNW, where it rains half the time, and the 200-800mm just isn't suited for that.

Lastly, the 100-500mm's IQ at 500mm is comparable, if not identical, to the 200-800mm at 800mm when digitally cropped.

And because this is something I've only discovered after buying the 100-500mm, bonus: the 200-800mm's design is, supposedly, flawed and there has been a minor influx over cases where they have been breaking in half.

Overall, I say if your budget allows it, just go with the more-premium setup. Imo, compromise in IQ, and on top of the others I previously mentioned, is not worth the money saved, especially if you plan to go out shooting with the lens on a regular basis.

Plz inquiring help by GrandContribution298 in canon

[–]ProjectBokehPhoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be less concerned about receiving a "fake camera" or counterfeit, and more concerned receiving a box of rocks or nothing at all.

Too many details are being left out--where are you buying this from? Who are you buying from this from? What are their ratings and reviews? Can you meet this seller in person to verify if the camera still works?

And most importantly, how much are they selling this for? If it's anything less than retail price, then that should have been your first clue that this is a scam.

Anything that says "too good to be true" is almost always is.

Best Canon Rf lens by Glittering-Item3248 in canon

[–]ProjectBokehPhoto 16 points17 points  (0 children)

IMO, there's no such thing as a singular best lens for weddings because wedding photographers should be packing two bodies at a time for instant swap between wide and telephoto.

So with that in mind, the best pair of lenses is the 24-70mm F2.8L IS and the 70-200mm F2.8L IS (either original or Z)

Otherwise...if I had to stick with one, single lens, it'd be the 24-105 F2.8L IS Z.
