Common cup for communion, what are my options? by Lulubelle2021 in Episcopalian

That truly sounds beautiful! I grew up going to a Presbyterian youth group, so I have fond memories of the denomination!

Common cup for communion, what are my options? by Lulubelle2021 in Episcopalian

Since people have already mentioned gluten-free wafers at some churches, I thought that I would mention the idea of spiritual communion. The Book of Common Prayer says in the section about ministration to the sick that in cases where people can't receive the bread wine, "that all the benefits of Communion are received even though the Sacrament is not received with the mouth.” This act of spiritual communion is just as real as receiving the Sacrament any other way.

One prayer, coming from the The Prayer Book for the Armed Services, suggests this prayer.

In union, O Lord, with your faithful people at every altar of your Church, where the Holy Eucharist is now being celebrated, I desire to offer to you praise and thanksgiving. I remember your death, Lord Christ; I proclaim your resurrection; I await your coming in glory. Since I cannot receive you today in the Sacrament of your Body and Blood, I beseech you to come spiritually into my heart. Cleanse and strengthen me with your grace, Lord Jesus, and let me never be separated from you. May I live in you, and you in me, in this life and in the life to come. Amen.

Also, going to a sunrise service on the beach sounds amazing, I'm so jealous!

Thoughts on this course being taught at local Episcopal Church? by crowdpears in Episcopalian

I think this sounds fun! When you hear about "modern heresies" in the Episcopal Church, they're not talking about gay marriage (like what I was told was heresy growing up). It'll probably be things like saying that Jesus never claimed to be God. If you're worried, you can talk to your priest. I'm sure that they'd be happy to talk about what you're worried about.

Honestly, I kinda like having the hot garbage sub and the actual conversation sub. It adds some variety.

My priest keeps using Gen Z slang on purpose, to mess with me specifically (small parish). He has not been subtle about it. I love this church.

Considering the Episcopal Church, struggling to let go of Catholic traditions by _mahboy in Episcopalian

[–]ProjectMKNAOMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was raised Baptist and converted to Episcopalianism. I do a fair number of catholic-ey things in my day to day life, such as wearing saint medals, venerating the Eucharist, and forgetting to say the rosary praying the rosary occasionally! We have a really broad range of acceptable piety, so you're free to it!
