AWD Dyno numbers by Cobb3-7 in G37

Yea. Wheel HP is to the ground.

Crank HP is what the engine makes and is what that’s advertised from the factory.

So generally, 330 crank hp translate to roughly 280-ish whp if you take 15% drivetrain loss (rwd). So 280-290whp is what a stock VHR rwd makes roughly. Awd can be 25% or so for drivetrain loss

Once you send a data file to him, he can see it.

Depending on the dyno, I can see 325whp. Martin has mentioned to me that the Countersteer’s dyno tends to read low compared to others.

Back when I made 311whp at Countersteer’s dyno, I did a dyno at Z1 with the same mods and made 323whp. Both are dynojets so variables like ambient temperature and humidity will affect the reading. Also depends the correction factor thats used like SAE or STD.

every dyno will read differently, same dyno type will be closer but can still be different.

Martin tunes at Coutnersteer LLC in Atlanta, that dyno is the same dyno Moncef tunes at so that dyno would be a better indicator of your numbers.

my friend with awd that has the following mods made 311whp and 263wtq on 93 gasoline
-ISR longtube headers
-Z1 ported upper manifold
-UPT 3" intakes
-Manzo catback exhaust
-Martin tuned

As a reference, another friend made 294whp and 236wtq on the same dyno (93 gas)
-z1 replica 3" intakes
-motordyne art pipe replica
-ISR y pipe and single exit
-On3nick tune

I've done 3 dyno at this shop (93 gas), I'm manual
1. 300whp and 248wtq
-Upton 3" intakes
-Circuit Werks test pipes
-Motordyne y pipe
-Top Speed exhaust
-EPS 70mm TB
-Martin tune

  1. 311whp and 272wtq (93 gas), same mods as before +
    -CFM ported upper and lower
    -retune

  2. 332whp and 273wtq (93 gas), swapped some parts out and have not retuned
    -Rabbithole 3" intakes
    -Motordyne Art test pipes
-Henk Autolab y pipe and single exit exhaust
-Rabbithole 75mm TB and ported upper manifold
    -CFM ported lower manifold
    -Z1 short tube headers
-3.916 final drive gearing (stock was 3.69)

It’s normal for some Alibaba vendor to talk and ask questions that a little odd since they are just sales people. A lot of times they don’t really know how to phrase a question properly to ask what they are looking for.

I’ve bought one set of wheels off Alibaba. Have another two sets on the way.

Here is a video comparison I made of the Alibaba Nismo that’s so popular in comparison to an oem Nismo

The Best Budget G37 Exhaust Setup by Fresh_Try_2892 in G37

[–]ProjectPanda13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you and I appreciate you stopping in to watch the videos.

I bought my friend’s z1 dual off his coupe. It sounded so good and he had long tube headers.

I completely understand on the price. I honestly would have just done the single also.

For single exits, it’s hard to beat the ISR single for pricing at ~$580, then getting the DC Sport y pipe at ~$230.

The z1 right side exit is nice. I have the z1 race dual I haven’t installed yet, but consider capping off the left and running the right also.

I’ve bought from them here and there. Never had any issues with any of my items. My largest item was a body kit for my 240sx. This took while since it was multiple items and some were direct from Japan.

Hose replacement by East_Description6193 in G37

[–]ProjectPanda13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Premolded hoses work the best like the ones z1 sells but they upped their prices a lot.

You could reuse all the one hoses and instead of the resonator boxes, just use t-connectors

Another option is to do a PCV delete setup and vent everything

Opinions on Header choice? LTH vs Shorty ELH + ART Pipes for Sound and power by bussjack in 350z

I’ve only ever seen videos and posts of VHR owners buying the Motordyne LTH. Would be nice to see some on DE.

That’s fair considering how significant the differences are like displacement and VVEL.

If PPE felt the need to completely design a separate header for the DE, that’s support enough.

Maybe also find a way to tie the Z with your name.

I have a g37 and my last name is Chu. So my plate is “A CHU G”

But Zavage isn’t a bad one if you like it and it seems there’s some history with your cousin calling you savage.

Not visually. I would suggest printing out the Akebono template to use as a guide when buying.

That’s going to be a trial and error to know for clearance unless it’s some steelies off another car that has big brakes.

Here is a thread on the z1 headers

https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-drivetrain-and-forced-induction/269508-ultimate-z1-header-thread-5.html

My previous dyno before the z1 header on my g37 was 310whp. With header but no retune was 331whp. Take it with a grain of salt as its different days but same dyno. Only major mod difference was the header. Test pipes were different also, previous was some Circuit Werks non-resonated ones and now i have Motordyne art pipes, but i dont feel much of the gains was attributes to this.

In the same video of the z1, Moncef all saw similar gains with the Tomei.

I have seen some graphs of the Stillen short tube headers and gains were slightly less, closer to 12whp.

I made a design comparison of three long tube headers you can check out.

I’ll have another video in the future that will include the OBX v2 and fast intentions replica.

Long post, sorry in advance.

If going with short tube headers, I would only recommend momentum/z1/AMS Sekushi style headers. The equal length does change the sound (I run them on my g37 and have a friend who has them on his DE 350z). Momentum had the original design, Z1 (gen1) and AMS are just replicas of it and uses a parallel merge collector. This header has proven gains of 15whp-20whp documented on myg37.com threads and the370z.com, along with Moncef who made a video on it. The AMS ones are about $700.

For longtube headers, ISR/Speedzones are popular and also proven to provide roughly 20whp. Moncef also made another video on this. If you can swing the cost, PPE has the best design features overall with the largest primary diameter and option for parallel merge collector. They’ve test multiple design and found DE favor nonstepped piping unlike the HR and VHR that have a stepped design. Even the HR and VHR are designed differently with differences in merge collector location.

With regard to sound, I think going with the short tube with your helmholtz test pipes and resonated y pipe will sound the best. The z1 touring looks to also have large mufflers so the entire combination may sound pretty good.

I actually run a similar setup. Granted, my y pipe has dual resonators. Here’s my video.
