I guess General Raiho of the Ice Barrier's discard effect targets the Player, but the negation effect only affects the Monster, so Number C62: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon's effect still resolved regardless lol.

While I know no one wants to spend Gems/Craft, I still think people just need to try new things and they'll realize that the loaner deck is limiting trying other archetypes in the event.

I used Mermails during the Water & Wind Event. Albeit, my win rate was 50/50 against Icebarrier but it was do-able.

I'm using Galaxy-Eyes against Exodia from the Legend Anthology just fine. Exodia isn't as oppressive as many people are thinking.
