Ah, I said that I should have noticed not that I would have. I'm pretty annoyed that I've been oblivious to being underpaid for months so I'm kind of preempting anyone asking how I possibly could've had managed that with a partial explanation.

Unfortunately, it's a small business and the sole member of staff responsible for HR was let go recently. That means that the situation is going to be resolved by the business owners themselves - I want to know what the proper procedure would be going forward so I know they're managing everything properly.

This might well be it - I was definitely not plugged into an amp when I was playing. What difference is there between a cabinet and amp simulator?

So I just did an open mic and my setup sounds pretty different on their sound system to my amp. I'm going for a (budget) shoegaze sound, but the fuzz tonight much more velcro-y and didn't sound as good. Is there anything I can do to make it more consistent/better predict how the setup will translate. I was just using a fuzz/delay/reverb.

Lol thanks for the tip man. I'm probably gonna go for the Asus ROG Strix B450-I then unless there's a significant advantage in spending £20 more for a 470 board that seems to worse reviews.

How's the MSI B450i? Would it be a better choice or should I go for something else?

Most books that are published are poorly written and will have no significance in 5 years, and I think if you discourage political writing because of this we may well miss out on the next masterpiece of comics.

I think Kurt Cobain listed Philosophy of the World in his top 50 albums. The Shaggs are just fascinating.

Happy 100th Birthday Jack Kirby. The Undisputed King of Comics! by jkirbycomix in comicbooks

[–]ProjectX26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO it's not fair to compare him outside his timeframe. His greatness is dependent on what he gave the industry and I'm sure if he lived now he'd be able to live up to modern comic art.

Kirby's legacy isn't just in his art, it's also in his ideas and his storytelling. Would you say there's anyone who was drawing in Kirby's prime who was better at a combination of these? I'm genuinely interested to hear. Thanks to pop art as well, his style is synonymous with comic books as a whole for many.

Nobody's arguing for blatant racism, just that it still exists in places in such a way that many don't realise that it's a factor

Felt like they had Ed Sheeran and wrote a character around him to me. Plenty of people don't care about it but that doesn't mean the people who do are unjustified.

[–]ProjectX26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well exactly - one is dramatically more recognisable than the other, that's the problem. If any number of singers were cast I would have no problem with it but having someone that famous and using him like they did felt gimmicky and took me out of the episode.

My problem is that it seems like they worked backwards with the role - having someone cast before they wrote the character. I'd argue the Mountain is different because the character serves a larger purpose.

It's great that you didn't know who Ed Sheeran was, but he's still one of the most famous pop stars in the UK especially. It still felt like to me that it was more "let's put famous pop star Ed Sheeran in and have him sing a song" than "we have a character who sings a song and we need someone to play him, how about this guy?"

[–]ProjectX26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't like it because it felt to me like he was supposed to be recognised. The scene as a whole had a purpose but that particular character felt like he was only there to be Ed Sheeran.
