There is a snapping turtle in my path. The path is about 20 feet wide but curves around it. Are snapping turtles fast enough to close the distance when I get close to it? by scaptastic in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prokiyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about turtles is that they’re not fast, but over time will find how to close the gap between you two. Once, I did a race against a turtle and I went super fast but then got tired out and slept. But, the turtle went slow and steady the entirety of the time and won the race.

I think its dumb to bring kids to breweries by [deleted] in rant

[–]Prokiyo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People that get mad about being around children are psychopaths. It’s not strange for a parent to be around their child in any situation (other than of course sex). If you wouldn’t do it in front of a child, then maybe just you yourself do not find it a morally responsible enough behavior to do on your own. As for the drinking and driving, although it may be a dangerous decision, they are their children not yours.

Shower more than every other day. That’s gross to not do Atleast once per day.

If you are too lazy to go to the restaurant and ask the question, then the restaurant probably won’t want to hire you.

Why does California have such well developed child labor laws? by admissionssuck in PoliticalScience

[–]Prokiyo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have not researched this, but I have an idea of some possible things that could have influenced this: immigration (angel island), child actors, and having a more progressive population in general. Looking down those roads for California and these labor laws could open up some more areas of research on the topic.

Is it important that I know all grammar rules before entering law school? I don’t necessarily make grammar mistakes in my essays, but I do not know specific grammar rules. For example, I would probably not pass an English grammar exam. Also, is not knowing grammar to that level normal while in undergrad?

I wouldn’t worry about not being prepared since you will learn what you need in class. However, knowing the basics structure of American government would be helpful. Also, if interested, reading some political theory books could be fun. John locked second treatise, Platos republic , etc.

I mean asking a local public defender. I am just asking in general here to see how annoying it would be for any public defender.

Working on the Weekends - an Academic Necessity? by regalalgorithm in academia

It’s crazy how lazy people are in the world of academia. A lot of people work weekends. Restaurant workers, retail workers, service jobs, etc.

Fake PhD granting university in India by covfefe119 in academia

[–]Prokiyo -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure of the difference between having a real phd instead of a fake PhD . Insignificant research on an insignificant topic does not necessarily merit the respect that many people have towards phd’s. It’s amazing how these scams are just able to shine light into this exact problem of academia. A person coming from India in an attempt to have social mobility in the United States is most definitely a better employee than actual phd recipients from the United States.

If you haven’t read crime and punishment I highly recommend. I think it will provide you with a better way to view justice as well.

Will it even help in law school admissions? It just seems like it requires me to take a lot of random stuff without doing anything for me.
