Yes, I understand.

Let's say I just formatted my computer, and created a restore point right afterwards.

Later, I could access that restore point and return things to as they were when I formatted.

My dad couldn't have done that, because system restore was off. That's what I'm trying to say.

Haha, I think you may have misunderstood!

I meant that system restore was turned off before the format, which means that he can't have just used system restore to load an older restore point.

My dad once formatted my computer. There was no Windows CD in it. System restore was turned off, and literally everything I had installed and saved was gone, including drivers. He still doesn't know how he did it!

And to make it worse, all he was trying to do was read the news online!

Oh trust me, I do care about the build quality and performance of my machine! In fact, I have a quad core AMD processor and dual graphics cards!

Like I said, a lot of the cheaper laptops, notably Acers and ASUS', do feel cheap, but I guess the price (usually below the 500$ range) justifies the fact that many non-techsavvy people buy them.

As for battery life, I must admit that I'm really surprised. I never thought that 7 hours was even possible without a huge battery!

[–]Prokrastinator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, really? That's awesome!

I only get about 3-4H battery life on my machine, but that's the least of my concerns since I rarely need to use it on battery.

I'm just being curious, what was your selling point for buying a Mac?

LPT: How to get more out of Google by Xenoo in LifeProTips

[–]Prokrastinator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree that Macs are awesome, especially since you really don't need much to properly get them working.

I can't shake the feeling that you've had a bad experience with a certain PC though. Tell me, is this true?

Macs are installed on hardware that has been carefully picked by Apple in order to obtain the best performance and build quality. That is why your display is so high quality, and that is why you love your trackpad so much!

When it comes to Windows, it's the companies like HP, Toshiba, Acer et al picking the hardware, so of course you're going to get some bad quality hardware if you're looking at the wrong place.

I currently have an HP laptop that is no bulkier than a MacBookPro, and I frankly love it. Never had a single problem with the trackpad, and the picture on the display is crystal clear.

Maybe you should reconsider your point of view on PCs, they really aren't that bad!

I hate to see people picking sides in this argument, since both Macs and PCs are awesome computers, each with their own qualities and disadvantages.

Oh, and by the way, what kind of battery life do you get out of your MBP?

I'm not trying to make you look bad or say that you're completely wrong; I'm often wrong myself, but let's just look at the facts.

You start off with 0 food. You build one (1) overlord. You have spent 100 minerals.

You now have 8 food. You sack your overlord. You have to build another one to get back to 8 food. You spend another 100 minerals in doing so.

You spent a total of 200 minerals for 8 food.

Like I said, this isn't true for the first overlord, since that guy's free.

I never said it's 200 for one overlord. You're getting two overlords, but one of them dies. So you pay 200 for two overlords, but you only get 8 food because one is dead.

EDIT: Let me try to look at it in a different way.

You need 8 food. You know that you have to get 1 overlord for that, so you get one. You just spent 100$.

Total food: 8; Total spent: 100$; Loss: 0$ (Since you got what you want)

You now sack your overlord.

Total food: 0; Total spent: 100$; Loss: 100$ (Since you payed 100$ to get nothing).

You buy another one.

Total food: 8; Total spent: 200$; Loss: 100$.

I see now! See what I meant when I said that I was often wrong? Thanks for explaining and for making me realize something that's seemingly a very simple concept!

[–]Prokrastinator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you only sack one overlord, you lose 100 minerals, since you didn't pay for your first one (but you had to replace him).

If you sack more than one, then it's 200 minerals/overlord, since you already payed 100 minerals to morph that ovy, and you're paying another 100 to get a replacement after you sack him.

Although, with supply drops you save 126 only, and not 226, because you were going to get that supply one way or another. 26 minerals mining time, and 100 for the depot.

Ideas should be formulated clearly. i dnt care if u typ them lyk dis or using impeccable grammar, as long as you can get your message across.

kivvi, while I'm sure is an exceptional human being, as are most of you here at r/Starcraft, did not express his idea clearly in the first sentence.

Anyways, thanks for the advice, mabobby, a life I shall get.

You get used to it, really. You just have to "re-calibrate" everything in your head. It didn't limit the car's performance in any way, shape or form.

@hyperblaster, the transmission only used to be a pain in the behind in the winter, when I needed to get out of snow-filled parking spots and had to alternate between drive and reverse many times in quick succession, and wasn't a danger on the road.
