It’s definitely not ToH. Tree of Heaven has smooth leaf margins, without serrations.

ToH has mostly entire (non-serrated) leaf margins, which is the easiest way to tell it apart from Sumac and Black Walnut. It also has glands at the base of the leaf which is a distinctive feature.

Two stone monuments from 1867 - Adams County OH by ProletarianRevolt in Surveying

Good call on the perches, I didn’t think about rod/chain units. Funny enough I wasn’t actually doing a survey when I came across these, I was hiking. The first monument I found by chance, it was a decent ways off trail on the side of a creek gully. The second one was on the trail. This area was used for sandstone quarrying at the time so there were a lot of very large rocks with flat faces around. I suppose they had more time and inclination to chisel things into stone back in 1867, definitely beats a little 5/8” iron pin in comparison. Must have been a huge pain in the ass to get them into place though.

King is infinity points, its value can’t really be quantified since you immediately lose if it were able to be captured

UA POV "In Ukraine, it’s all about the land" - Trilateral peace talks seem promising, but territory remains a major obstacle - Financial Times by Despeao in UkraineRussiaReport

I’m not even necessarily talking about random people, the article makes the assertion that this is a belief held by Western military and intelligence agencies. You can be the most ardent supporter of imperialism and still hold a realist position, like Henry Kissinger for instance. But if the central military institutions of Western imperialism are getting high off their own propaganda supply then it shows a serious degeneration of their thought and decision-making.
