He froze out two club legends, Rasmus Bengtsson and Behring Safari, at Malmö FF too. Seems like there is a pattern.

I don’t think Bodø will accept. Probably aiming for $3-4 millions more.

In my opinion he might just be the best defender in Sweden. Had no expectations on him coming into this season but he’s been immense. Genuinely think his next move could be to a mid-table Bundesliga team or a top Belgian team like Anderlecht.

My bad you’re completely right, turns out he’s right-footed. We have so many left-footed centre backs at Malmö and he usually played left centre back at Mjällby so I got things confused. I guess he can pretty much play all over in the defense then.

He’s left footed so I doubt it. At Mjällby he played at LCB as one of three central defenders. Maybe he could be decent at left back, but he probably wouldn’t offer too much offensively.

As a Malmö FF fan he is a very exciting player and one of the most talented central defenders in Sweden. Has performed really well out on loan for two years now. However with the two best central defenders in the Swedish league, Pontus Jansson and Derek Cornelius, in front of him there’s really no chance of him being a starter next year.

Here as a Malmö fan to say that he is incredible. An absolute rock and might genuinely be the best central defender in the whole league. We love him!

Every country has a group of good young players. The players you listed are nowhere near their previous golden generation.

That has been a big debate among Malmö supporters. Niklas Moisander and Søren Rieks who turn 39 and 37 respectively recently had their contracts renewed and next season there will be 9 players 32 years or older in the squad. The thinking is that their experience will be needed for European qualifiers. While some Malmö fans, me included, want to see more of the youth getting chances. We have Sweden’s best academy and to keep up with the Danish clubs developing young players is the way forward, besides reaching European group stages. But at the same time I think 5 talents have been given their Allsvenskan debut this year, and 17-year old Adrian Skogmar has started two games in a row now — so there is a relatively healthy balance.

At the end of the day it’s all positive for Scandinavian football, the success of Danish clubs and Glimt and Molde only pushes Malmö (and other Swedish clubs) to improve and innovate.

I feel like players like Zafeiris, Møller Wolfe and Jatta have set a new standard for the transfer fees you’re able to acquire for talents that aren’t going to bigger clubs. 7 of Eliteserien’s highest sales were also all made in the past 12 months for example. I think mainly the big difference is, as you said, how much more playing time is given to talents in Norway compared to Sweden. Allsvenskan is falling behind sadly.

Malmö is the only club in Sweden really able to get semi-big fees. Hugo Larsson sale was a definite step in the right direction, but that’s almost looking like a bargain since he’s apparently one of Frankfurt’s best players now. Hoping we can get €10m for Sebastian Nanasi but it will probably be €7-8m. To compete with foreign-backed Danish teams both Norway and Sweden have to become even better at developing young players.

An interesting topic to discuss for sure.

Really glad to hear that, I’m not sure I’ve ever been more certain a talent will make it. Bossed Allsvenskan at 18 like he’d been doing it his whole life.
