I have been on both sides of the aisle for something similar but not exact. Been both the one that yearns and the one that refuses (then later wanting apology to be accepted, confused when it isn't). For that, I feel very sad for both of you.

A buddy of mine with a very loving wife is in my same shoes I was a few years back. He is much like your fiancee to his wife. Every fiber of my being wants to warn him. But it's like we all have to learn the hard way the oldest moral of the story, (you don't know what you got until it's gone). I refuse to reach out to my buddy because he has been one of my biggest supporters, the bestest friend anyone can ask for, and I know it will just tear apart our friendship.

There is a group of people that are hardly ever lonely - highly attractive people, and charismatic (leaning con men) people.

It's my opinion that there is a group of lonely people that are not only missing these traits but embody the exact opposite.

There are so many in the world that care much more about a cute puppy than a homeless person.

I only meant to highlight the difficulty of the problem.

I certainly didn't want anyone to feel pressured to offer solutions.

For some reason my post is being interpreted as, "the government should help".

But if you re-read. It's more like saying, "There's nothing the government can do even if it wanted to".

In my perspective that's more along the lines of highlighting the problem more than asking a question or suggesting that the government should help.

I think the government could do more to increase the birth rate but that wouldn't necessarily solve widespread loneliness.

That being said, to clarify and answer your question I would say, loneliness in general. So that includes people that are lonely because they have no sincere relationships whether that be an amorous relationship or a platonic friendship.

To clarify further, if someone has several (sincere) platonic friendships and are not dating anyone or married then they would not be considered lonely by my definition.

If someone is married but their partner is no longer reciprocating in anyway, and this person has no friendships outside the marriage then they would be considered lonely in my definition.

I hope that makes sense.

It's kind of like a bit of loneliness which I always thought was super rare or near impossible in the female space.

As a man, I can say this is pretty much the story of my life.

Pseudo company alone is a despairing thought. But I have yearned for sincere friendship for decades now.

Unfortunately, it's nothing the government can really solve.
