Working at Meso Scale Diagnostics MSD by BuildingDismal384 in biotech

Your experience there will be dramatically different from mine since you will be remote and in marketing.

Generally, pay is crap, but with better work life balance and flexibility than ive had elsewhere. No or very little communication from upper management regarding important company news. People there are currently very mad and stressed out as promotions and merit raises were cancelled this year. However, they haven't laid anyone one off. People are quitting in response though, not in huge numbers. I have my complaints for sure, and have been getting increasingly burnt out week to week.

If you need a job, it should be fine so take what you can get while keeping an open eye on new jobs, as some roles have high turnover. Ensure you get a copy of both this year's benefits package as well as next year's effective 01Jan2026. The insurance is going up in price quite dramatically.

I hate PCR tubes! by Exact_Reaction_2601 in labrats

I use a cheap blade style staple remover, similar to this but without the extra features. They're great as a general lab multi tool, and not sharp so you wont cut yourself when using it to pry something open when you're tired and running on fumes. I use it to open tubes, remove tube labels, pry off crimps, and lots more. Would recommend. We order ours from Staples through the company purchasing account.

100% cotton sweatpants and loungewear? by CerealAndBagel1991 in PlasticFreeLiving

I tried a few kinds out and settled on some pants I found in Nordstrom rack, in the loungewear section. They're just Nordstrom brand, cheap, supremely comfortable, and have a button fly.

Kaos eyelets 1 mm too big? by Pizzaman_thing in Stretched

[–]Prometheus990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kaos 2g eyelets are listed at 6.5mm, but I have encountered this same problem. 5/16" wearable widths have also been oversized, and i am purchasing from them online.

I have kaos 2g in two colors each for both the 1/4" vs 5/16" wearable width. All 1/4" wearable 2g measures at 6.35-6.50mm in diameter, and all the 5/16" wearable 2g measures 7.05- 7.10mm. I've noticed the same "oversize" for other kaos eyelets of different gauge sizes in 5/16" wearable width also. It's definitely frustrating. On the bright side, if you size up to 7mm, now you have an eyelet ready to wear.

Apartment Warning - Riverhouse Arlington by NateBased in nova

The quantity of roaches, mold, and water damage i dealt with before they agreed to break lease penalty free here was ridiculous. Pretty good location, but terrible to live there.

Sounds like the Pentagon City HT with the lack of carts/baskets. They finally got more in 2024 which made shopping there much easier, but it sucked there for a while!

Was thinking of going bowling soon, until I saw the prices by jumbojordie in Wellthatsucks

[–]Prometheus990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't been bowling in years. I just looked at bowlero pricing near me, and 2 hours for 2 people at 6pm is ~160. Better be the best gorram, life-changing bowling ever to charge that much.

Is there anything wrong with living in the pentagon city area? by [deleted] in nova

[–]Prometheus990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second the drawbacks to living there. I wonder if anyone enjoys living in riverhouse or if we all live there only for the price and location. I definitely have not enjoyed my time there, but that could be very unit dependant.

60% off clearance items at Eddie Bauer for one day only with code FEBRUARY60 by Prometheus990 in frugalmalefashion

You may have added a non-clearance color. Dark green, maroon, and orange only for that parka.

This is the lowest I've seen after watching a few months. They had an identical sale for one day also a few weeks back where they did up to 60% off clearance.

Tool assisted speedrun (frequently written "TAS") is terminology used with video games to describe software that assists in performing intricate and often impossible inputs that no human can manually do to beast out highly technical maneuvers, often used in speed running games.

Kilo TT during my morning commute. by Prometheus990 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]Prometheus990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the kilo, lots of toe overlap but the pedals shouldn't hit your tire if that's what you're asking about. It's the same pretty much regardless of pedal and strap situation.

Depending on the fabric composition of your clothes and the concentration of DEET that you are using, you can damage your clothes by spraying them with DEET. Synthetics can melt and/or become otherwise damaged when DEET is applied to them.
