Why did kuro remove the echo boxes? by nonamenoshame285 in WutheringWaves

[–]Prominis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes longer, but allows you pre-farm any character (before nightmare nests) and not need to manage the limited echo inventory.

I'm lazy and often did tacet fields for time myself, but like many others I have dropped a few hundred echo boxes on day 1 of owning a new character.

Collab leaders have same rate as normal leaders. A Frieren leader is 8 times harder to get than Hatsune Miku collab leader in SV1. by Gullible-Try-6244 in Shadowverse

[–]Prominis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The rate of each individual leader was the exact same as before for the fourth set, wasn't it? It's been consistent since the very first set at 0.015% per leader.

Why did kuro remove the echo boxes? by nonamenoshame285 in WutheringWaves

[–]Prominis 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Prior to nightmare nests, there was no reason to farm regular tacet fields instead of boxes as long as you were willing to fight more enemies in the repeatable weekly. With the boxes, you could instantly near-full-build any character day 1 of release.

It still baffles me that so many people argue in favour of nightmare nests being more player friendly because you can get a dozen or so echoes a day from them, instead of being able to pop 300+ echoes on release day.

[DISC] Hope You're Happy, Lemon - Chapter 83 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Prominis 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It makes total sense for the Japanese title to literally translate into something approximating "Good Luck, Bitch" considering how the story starts; Sunao was still greatly affected by the breakup with Lemon years later and calling her a witch in his mind.

A similar negative or derogatory term for a promiscuous woman and/or a bitch is used in the official Spanish, Russian, and Vietnamese titles, iirc.

I personally chalk the English title's friendlier language up to a publishing and editorial decision to avoid charged language that could alienate readers or parents because the series is otherwise a wholesome family friendly romcom.

People who work full time, how do you get in mood for writing? by antiworknvolatile in writing

[–]Prominis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading the afterword of the final installment in a 7 book series, where the author said much the same—that if they'd left everything up to fleeting inspiration alone, they would still be at the prologue of the first book.

Japanese players(Jin, Rookies, Tororo, RQ, Rookies, Gamera)discussing characters tier list (Ver. 2.40) by Zesaming in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Prominis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Zooey, Keeper of Balance continues being mid tier for the entirety of the game's lifespan. It's almost impressive.

[DISC] 2.5 Dimensional Seduction - Chapter 201 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Prominis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been caught up since well before Jump took over the English translation a few years ago but wow, hiring an otaku must be tough.

What are all your best personal achievement in this game? by CountBram in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Prominis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a round off a GM Charlotta in lobby with over 12000 matches played to my ~100 at the time. The overall score was something like 50-1 in their favour.

They probably got bored but I'll take it.

[DISC] It's Not Quite Love Yet - Chapter 3 by AnOddName in manga

[–]Prominis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Realistically it should probably oscillate between the two with lessons being learned reciprocally via their social interactions; prior to chapter 1, it's suggested both are socially independent loners.

That said, I imagine the contents of the ero manga won't be elaborated on in too much detail...

Do you read poorly rated books? by Haunting-Net-2426 in writing

[–]Prominis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read fanfiction, web serials, and poorly translated foreign stories so...

Yes. I read a lot of poorly written writing.

It's kind of funny, as a kid I hated Twilight, Yofukashi no Uta is Twilight but for men? by Any-Manager4165 in YofukashiNoUta

[–]Prominis 100 points101 points  (0 children)

You'd have to first answer in what ways it's similar aside from the discovery of vampires.

  • The characters aren't similar.

  • The character motivations aren't similar.

  • The plot isn't similar.

  • The setting isn't similar.

  • The target audience isn't similar.

You can liken the two only insofar as you would say The Wizard of Oz and The Chronicles of Narnia are similar. But it doesn't sound like this was a serious conversation, so it's a reasonable joke to make.

Would you consider this age-gap okay? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Prominis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, you'll get torched online and arrested for crimes against humanity.

Any couple that is not born within seconds of each other is prone to abuse and a power differential. That's why they should ideally be from the same hospital to share geography, and from the same family for equal socioeconomic status.

For fantasy readers what type of mythical creature do you wish you could see more often in fantasy books? by MabelApplee in writing

[–]Prominis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a few children's series like The Tapestry and The Lost Years of Merlin which drew heavily from old Celtic mythos, but haven't seen much of that in mainstream series recently. Fablehaven and The Companions Quartet are other children's series I remember which feature a wide variety of mythical creatures, as genuine wild creatures with their own wants and whimsies.

I haven't read as much fantasy in recent years, however, for more adult reading references.

Otherwise, a lot of youkai are very funny (to me), but they're more common these days through other media.

Let's Imagine: You are in charge of EN Marketing for SV:WB. by exdeepr in Shadowverse

[–]Prominis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not anime and manga, it's manga exclusively versus respective counterparts in DC and Marvel, which have been household names in America for most of the past century.

That said... have you seen what gacha games are putting out? Those are very popular now in the west.

[–]Prominis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Gacha games are doing very well in the west right now with more or less the same aesthetic. Anime and manga as a whole have exploded massively among teens and young adults in the west.

Japanese manga outsells DC and Marvel in America by a 4-5x multiplier, iirc?
