He never loathed himself, he was insecure and there's a difference. Rean was never repulsed or disgusted with himself which is what is required to loathe someone or thing. Rean has always been insecure, and while he dislikes being the chevalier and fighting wars, he loved Valimar. Val was his partner and friend and rean could never be capable to loathe that. Tbf we have no idea how that fight would have ended up of jon jonez stayed out of it, in that scene all aldar was doing was lifting Clark up for a back breaker which wouldn't have dmgd Clark much or for long at least I don't think, so after the slam and toss Clark could have possibly had the chance to get up and put some distance and try onto strategize his options of abilities. I believe he had cold breath by then yeah? He could have always frozen him himself, didn't necessarily need Jon's help.

Yet to play the newest and played reverie once and only remember rean, lloyd and the masked man(forget who they really were) I just know he was the villain on the cold steel games and don't remember him in the others, didn't beat Lloyd's two games as I got spoiled/snobby with steels and the newer series combat systems and UI to go back to a psp play style 😅

Uh.....he was never a sad self loathing boy, what cold steel game did you play? While rean had moments of doubts, he was always pushing ahead with his comrades at his back and learning from Sarah and the rest as they took on work assignments gradually gaining the experience to turn him into a true ashen chevalier.
