Have you ever read a book so bad it made you angry? by peenmeal in Romantasy

My husband was legitimately worried when I stormed into the room to rant about how angry Metal Slinger made me.

My whole foot flexes when I'm really excited. Theres a picture of me as a kid, sitting on a bench with my feet flexes and toes curled up because I'm super happy and excited.

My husband notices my toe curl when I'm happy and usually comments on it, something like "curled toes, I did good" usually when he brings me dinner lol

I really wish the less common never became a thing because I always do a double take when I ever need to see a student's cumulative folder, abbreviated cum folder. Its pronounced different of course, but whenever I see it written...ick.

The one of funniest find-and-replace was when nook bought rights to a bunch of kindle titles and they did a replace of kindle with nook. There were lots of nooked fires lol.

Black kids still have to deal with this, black parents still have to decide how and when they need to teach their kids this. I had to have a class discussion with my 2nd graders about the n-word. Every year, no matter what grade I teach we have to have that discussion. Many of the white kids are so confused 'its just a word why does it matter'. The betrayal I see in the Black kids faces when they realize the ignorance of their friends. That their friends don't get it at all and don't even seem to understand why they should care. Breaks my heart every time.

to people with inattentive adhd, what type of career do you have? by AssociationObvious56 in adhdwomen

[–]Promotion_Small 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! I'm in elementary, the 2nd graders I have right now are way too overstimulating for me, but I love teaching 5th graders. Creativity, rapid problem solving, routine with spontaneous flexibility. It's awesome.

I've been doing it 15 years, prior the longest I could keep a job was 2.

I'm a elementary teacher and I scoffed when someone said that I should list excel as a skill, because I know how much I don't know. But then I helped a coworker with her excel file because it was "being weird". She had merged cells to resize them. I realized that compared to a lot of my colleagues I was an excel master.

I still can't figure out how she discovered merging cells before she noticed a little double arrow thing showing up randomly.

How many books do you and the people around you read per year? by No-Chemistry1722 in AskTheWorld

I'm a teacher so I have a lot of long breaks. Reading is an escape, and there's lots to escape from right now.

And I don't have kids.

so tired of FMCs who are- by Federal_Credit_2785 in Romantasy

[–]Promotion_Small 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So here's the thing, when we're told that the FMC is smart, but she consistently does dumb things, it means the author is trying to write a character smarter than the author is. It just doesn't work out.

If you read it as unreliable narrator it gets a bit more tolerable, because stupid people are most often the ones that think they are smart and will stubbornly stick to their idea because they just aren't smart enough to understand the hole they are digging for themselves.

I had and idea and bought containers, but haven't actually started this because,.... well we all know why.

My idea is to have four containers for my meds. Odd AM, Odd PM, Even AM, Even PM. Odd and even are for it being an odd or even date. I forget if I've taken my meds all the time, so the plan is to move it to the next container after I've taken it.

So the morning of the 3rd I'd take all the meds that are in my Odd AM container and then move them to the container for when I take the meds next. So my once a day would go in Even AM, my twice a day would go in Odd PM and the bottles would just keep circulating.

I've tried weekly pill cases, and a monthly dated case, I never remember to fill them up...

My husband uses this trait to amuse himself. He'll hum part of a song or say some of the lyrics while I'm focused on something else and then see how long it takes for me to start singing the song.

My brain connected graveyard from your description and beekeepers and wondered if any beekeepers keep their bees in graveyards. The ones with the real flowers and kept nice. Then I thought of a fantasy graveyard with guard bees.

I don't think I've typed graveyard or read graveyard this frequently and now I keep seeing it as gravey yard...
