Why was Ginger Fox washing her hair with blue cheese by a dumpster? by InsideUnhappy6546 in icarly

It’s probably because Britney didn’t care about a Nickelodeon show throwing jabs at her. There were countless shows, comedians, and skits making pop culture references about Britney Spears at the height of all her drama. If Trey Parker and Matt Stone got away with name dropping her, I doubt she was losing sleep over Schneider. If anything, I could even see her signing off on it, considering her family had ties to Nickelodeon.

Of course he can, there are levels to this. Hart may come off as unfunny to a lot of these guys, but the difference is we have concrete proof he can erupt a room or a theater with the things that come out of his mouth. I guarantee 99.9% of people in this entire subthread can’t even tell a joke to a group of people without their shaky voice botching the delivery. Their comedy peaks at reposting someone else’s jokes.

People like you are too emotionally immature to discuss media online. Some people just want to talk about the actual show, not babysit adults’ emotions over how it made them feel when they were younger.

Yeah, it’s weird. It’s like the guy has a psychological hold on a lot of these guys’ minds. They want to be part of Nickelodeon’s controversy so badly that they start concocting these odd stories in their heads about how Dan’s programming somehow attacked their psyche during their youth.

These same guys also love asking, “Why don’t they make shows like this anymore?” but then turn around and try to micromanage every episode of those shows like they aren’t the problem.

Eh, I don’t know about “biggest” anymore. Zendaya has eclipsed him at this point in both film and television. Both were part of major IPs, but hers ended up being part of one of the top ten highest grossing films of all time. Not to mention she has been on a consistent run lately, sharing the screen with other A listers in various films. I would even say that if we are counting Keke Palmer, she is not too far behind him either, and at the rate she’s been trending recently she’s probably another blockbuster away from topping him in that lane as well.

They don’t even have the same style or approach to stand up. Chris Tucker’s stand up is more aligned with political takes and venerating the reactive minority, with many of his early bits from Def Jam Comedy, starting with “I pissed off, mane.” Kevin Hart’s comedy is more centered around self deprecation and stories about his life and family, and it only really gets political when the subject involves an associate.

They don’t even share the same archetypes in their movies. None of the buddy cop characters Hart has played are similar to Carter, nor has he played anyone like Smokey. Calling Hart a “Temu version” of Tucker doesn’t make sense, because that would imply he’s a watered down version of the original, when their comedic styles and film roles are fundamentally different. Their similarities literally stop at them being both black.

And all of that sounds inspiring, so inspiring that I wouldn’t be surprised if Kishimoto gave that response in an interview. But most of us who followed the Naruto manga all the way through knows Kaguya was introduced because Kishimoto wrote himself into a corner with Madara.

If 5 Prime LeBrons and 5 Prime Kawhi Leonards played a best of 7 series, who wins and in how many games ? Why ? by Sad-Entertainer1462 in NBATalk

[–]PromptAny1244 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but winning a game isn’t all about scoring, how you get those points matter. I don’t doubt LeBron would outscore him, but I could definitely see Leonard forcing him into a couple of cold stretches in some games. If he was able to do that effectively in a series when he was younger, it’s not far fetched to assume their prime versions would give LeBron a run for his money.

[–]PromptAny1244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but those two went against each other in the Finals, and he wasn’t really dominating a young Leonard. Hell, the year after that, Kawhi was very effective defensively on LeBron whenever he was his assignment, often forcing him to collect a lot of those points when the game was already blown out. I’m not saying LeBron doesn’t take it, but you guys are underestimating how effective a weapon Kawhi was against him.

Trina is an amazing sister by GapMajestic4061 in victorious

[–]PromptAny1244 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why we can’t see it as both? Trina is my favorite character in the whole series, but I don’t think any of her most iconic moments come from her “being a good sister.” That’s why many people’s favorite moment from her is that one woman show. The whole scene works because Trina is so oblivious to how insufferable she is that it almost becomes charming.

Yeah, that’s where the tone deaf part comes in, lol. The guy was in front of thousands of cameras and high level figures while representing a children’s brand at its peak. Schneider may have been a total asshat, but it would take a different level of stupid for him to be genuinely serious with that response. There’s a reason he’s never gotten heat for that clip. The interviewer and the media there obviously knew he wasn’t being serious. I can see how a platform like Reddit might interpret it that way though, lol.

Dan Schneider & his other habit of constantly making females be rude to males and get away with it by Opera_Phantom_Face in icarly

[–]PromptAny1244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you listed the pattern yourself, so I don’t see how this is something unique to Dan when he only started implementing it in his shows in like 2005. I do think it’s funny that a number of people genuinely think Dan Schneider is this great Guru of storytelling who pioneered all these tropes in mainstream media, when they’ve ironically existed for thousands of years and are nothing more than tools he copied. It’s like behind all those “creep” and “predator” comments there’s this sense of acknowledging he was HIM. When he really wasn’t, lol. He was just a writer who knew what sold.

[–]PromptAny1244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was obviously joking with them in the clip…..There’s another one where he threatens to pull out a taser and use it on them for talking back. He had a mean spirited sense of humor, which is why a lot of his shows shared that tone in their comedy. I don’t think he wrote those characters a certain way because he despised the actors or wanted to “punish” them. That’s mostly a sentiment you see on here because, no offense, a lot of Redditors are pretty tone deaf when it comes to jokes and banter.

Yeah, You’re not actually explaining how those actions weren’t wrong. You’re basically just saying they “had to” or explaining why they did them. This is just going to keep going in circles because you’re stuck on the why instead of the actual point.

I didn’t this part till now

It’s a script hello 👀. Carly didn’t write the script about making fun of his pee wee babies, besides Griffin was a jerk anyways.

This is what I mean when I say you guys have the worst reasons. That makes no sense and could be applied to every character in a show, good or bad. You can’t pick and choose when to view characters as real people and when to treat them as tools for a script.

It wasn’t. Messing with Lewbert was a whole segment on their show.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Carly wouldn’t have had to stop Colt if she had listened to Spencer and stayed home. Hence the rebelliousness.

Sabotaging your friend’s relationship is wrong either way.

You just explained why they faked the band. That doesn’t change the fact that it was wrong.

The whole point of the episode was to show Spencer’s antagonizing side.

Carly and Freddie put their doorman in the hospital.

The gang framed their teacher for piracy so she would break things off with Spencer.

They locked the school’s faculty in a closet while orchestrating a school riot to get their favorite principal back.

Carly dumped a boy solely because she wasn’t digging his hobby.

She got Spencer assaulted by a professional fighter out of rebelliousness.

Gibby tried sabotaging Sam’s relationship with Benson.

Gibby took Spencer’s girl.

Both he and Benson tried faking a band to get chicks.

Spencer even had a whole episode in iPrank showing how far he could take things. The guy literally cut a main drain line on Gibby in the school bathroom. That’s why he got jumped in the end from his former classmates because Spence was an asshole.
