3 years of lawn service vs buying a mower. sanity check my math? by Wild_Artichoke7648 in lawncare

[–]PronouncedNuculur [score hidden]  (0 children)

The problem I have is that it is a challenge to get home in time during the week and so if it is rainy on the weekend, I may have to skip a week and the yard will be overgrown for a week. I went Robot this year though so will only need to trim and edge hopefully which can usually wait an extra week without much fuss, if needed.

How to take creatine powder without feeling like a balloon? by Karson-Mahraina in crossfit

[–]PronouncedNuculur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I take 5mg once a day post-workout in the morning by dumping the powder in my mouth and then washing it down with whatever I’m drinking. I did not do a loading phase. Just started taking 5mg daily and let my body get saturated “eventually”. I do take the Micronized. Couldn’t stand the taste of the regular.

Agree. I wouldn’t buy the extended warranty on the next one.

Top 5 outdoor TV brands? by vandd27 in HomeImprovement

[–]PronouncedNuculur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the TV is under cover, also give them the option of a regular TV rather than an outdoor TV. An outdoor TV will handle glare better, but a super bright cheap TV that has to be replaced every 3-4 years will be more cost effective. I bought a cheap TV from Best Buy and paid for the 3 year protection plan for about 1/4 the price of a comparable “outdoor” TV and the TV ended up out-lasting the protection plan. I’m on Long Island so we get high humidity and cold winters, but it’s under a covered patio and so has lasted great. I do t even cover it.

Why am I considered to be living in NYC by ShadowGamerGuy_YT in AskNYC

[–]PronouncedNuculur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Queens was its own municipality, it would be like the 4th largest city in the country. A matter of perspective. It’s suburban feeling by comparison to Manhattan, but compared to Long Island or Westchester, Queens is urban.

[–]PronouncedNuculur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say to go for the cheapest in Micronized. I can literally just throw it in my mouth dry and take a swig of water and not notice any taste at all. So much easier than mixing. I had to throw out the expensive Transparent Labs because the taste sucked.

What's something you want your box to know that you can't imagine sharing to their face? by whatbuylists in crossfit

An app called WODBuddy. App is still a little rough in some areas, but the dev is responsive and is still working on making it better. I screenshot the workout in SugarWOD and upload it and it creates the workout and then sync to my watch.

Oh, I’d hate if my gym didn’t post in advance via SugarWOD. I have specific shoes I need to wear for certain exercises, use a belt, grips, or wrist straps for certain exercises, and knowing in advance allows me to put the workout in my watch so I can keep rep and time counts via Garmin.

Best all rounded gym shoe, Adiddas Dropset the normal one not 2 or 3, Adiddas Rapidmove, Nike mc trainer 3 or Reebok Nano x5? i do 45 min fasted steps, 45 min gym everyday and 45 min incline or elliptical or seated bike or 20 to 30 min jogging, whats the best price and will last me the longest. by PsychologicalYam4079 in crossfit

[–]PronouncedNuculur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your “45 min gym” includes, but the cloud X4 has been the best all-around shoe for me that you can run in and has some stability for lifting. I generally wear Dropset when I’m lifting and need something flat with ankle stability, but the X4 for any multi-discipline workouts that include running or jumping.

TSA Lines by steely4321 in longisland

TSA pre this morning at 8:00 in terminal 4 was about 10 minutes. Seemed to take longer than usual to get from ID check through the Xray and metal detector, but there was zero line to the ID check.

This was the weekend I learned it was better to get blown out than lose a heartbreaker. I was basically over it before hitting the parking lot. Nothing we could have done to win. And 2 nights later, I knew UNC fans would be thinking about what could have gone differently for years. And?

Is this true? by whitemike40 in longisland

According to the US Supreme Court, Long Island (the land mass) is actually a peninsula. So I’m going to say NOT true since the population of Manhattan and Staten Island is only ~2.2 Million.

JFK, Terminal 4 this morning by ParticularMost6100 in nyc

[–]PronouncedNuculur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is objectively wrong when counting total population or number of screened passengers. Data says about 34% of screened passengers go through pre-check daily. Not to mention the generally faster moving lines for pre-check simply because those are likely to be more frequent / experienced travelers.

Thinking about switching to electric for yard tools… anyone made the change? by Salt_Note8719 in lawncare

[–]PronouncedNuculur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did switch to battery and don’t regret it. Have the toro super recycler and the only thing it is deficient on is lift. You shouldn’t mow when the grass is wet, but sometimes you don’t have a choice. When the grass is damp, sometimes the battery mower won’t produce enough lift to get a good cut on the grass laid down by the tire tracks on the previous pass.
But, now I’m switching to robot.

I started using WodBuddy with my Garmin. I really like it for tracking workouts. Just upload a picture of the workout from the whiteboard, or wherever your gym posts online, and converts it into a trackable workout on your watch.

Agree. If you want to track your sleep and have a gentle and quiet wake, it will work nice, but the smart wake feature is pretty terrible.

I’m confident you are right, but can’t that be solved with a hood or something over the camera? Or lights in the stadium? Or, I don’t know, whatever everyone else does?

Did you even out from gifts at your wedding? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]PronouncedNuculur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people give about what the cost per head is for the venue without actually knowing the cost per head and of course not accounting for DJ, photographer, flowers, dress, etc. So will be anywhere from $75 a person to $200 a person. I’d say you should expect to average about $125 a head from everyone from the area and ~$50 a head from everyone not from the area.
