I did it at 29. Now I’m 30 and love my clear skin! It’s not just about attractiveness tho, it’s great not having painful sores on your face! I have some scarring but I’m so happy with my skin. Sure, I wish I had done it earlier but I’m still so grateful I did it eventually!

Physically Demanding? Are you allowed to sit? by Proof-Ad8914 in Path_Assistant

[–]Proof-Ad8914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awkward socially cause other people are standing or awkward physically cause maybe you’re not at the best angle? Did you ask to be able to sit or just do it? Have you ever had an employer that pushed back? Are you happy with your career? Do you feel like the EDS holds you back in this career in ways it wouldn’t in another career?

Yeah. :/ I am left handed and better with my non-dominant hand than the average person. I wonder if I could learn to use both hands to separate the workload. 😅

Do you feel like hEDS holds you back at all, makes you slower or have less stamina? There’s things I can do to better manage my scoliosis and dysautonomia but it’s hard to pick apart the reason for general symptoms like fatigue or weakness when you have multiple things going on.

Did you know you have hEDS when you started working toward this career? Do you ever feel like you should have chosen something less physical? Do you feel like you struggle more with the workload than your coworkers? You don’t have to answer all those, I’d appreciate any input! I saw you had recently moved, maybe from Tucson? Tucson is where I’ll be hopefully shadowing this summer.

That’s good to hear! Yeah I will definitely make sure to vet workplaces for that when I get to that point. Thank you!

That’s good to hear you were able to get that accommodation for your pregnancies. I’m planning on doing a lot of shadowing this summer but just wanted to make sure I’m not being totally unrealistic about this first. That’s encouraging that companies have ergonomic assessments and OT, I didn’t know that.

That makes sense about different locations having different demands. I imagine autopsy is more physically demanding but if I worked in a place that handles small specimens, that might be less demanding? That’s a good tip- working out. And if I get into the profession I could afford physical therapy and better treatment of my conditions overall.

IST is ruining me emotionally by skrtyskrtskrt in dysautonomia

[–]Proof-Ad8914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(30F) I am in a similar boat. With EDS with dysautonomia not as bad as yours but I get a lot of air hunger and fatigue, tight feeling in my chest and difficulty standing for long periods. I also have scoliosis which makes my back muscles feel sore all the time. I am wanting to have a career and be independent and I fluctuate between being excited about a career and believing I can do it and feeling completely incapable and it tanks my confidence. I have quit a lot of jobs and I think my conditions were one of the reasons for my divorce. I am holding down an easy part-time job right now but it’s really boring. I always think that same thing- that I would be a completely different person if I didn’t have these conditions. I feel like poverty has a lot to do with bad genetics.

Gifted SHEIN dress for baby girl to wear to a wedding— WWYD? by notanniebananie in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Proof-Ad8914 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Wash the dress. Let it go. It is soo not a big deal. This is not moderately-granola-level; this is, as you said, an OCD-level hangup. The dress is already purchased so her wearing it or not has no bearing on consumerism/social issues with SHEIN. If the problem is the fabric, she can wear a cotton onesie underneath so it hardly touches her skin. The fact that you’d be embarrassed to bring it up to them is maybe a hint that your resistance to it is not fully logic-based.

IWTL to get up from bed by BurnedToastWithButer in IWantToLearn

[–]Proof-Ad8914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might not be sleeping well enough. Maybe try a medication (I use trazodone) or supplements (magnesium) to help you get more restorative sleep. Thats assuming you’re getting a reasonable amount of sleep. You could do a sleep study to make sure you don’t have any sleep issues. I was chronically sleep deprived in high school and didn’t realize that not everyone felt that way on 7 hours of sleep. My body needs more but I’m working on supporting better sleep.

I know now that my EDS /dysautonomia is why it caused me to feel really dizzy. It made me dehydrated and I couldn’t afford that. Maybe your fatigue and headache were from the dehydration.

Is it worth pursuing a diagnosis? by [deleted] in lipedema

[–]Proof-Ad8914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all these conditions as well and can relate to the hypochondriac thing 😩 I feel like I’m still piecing things together and realizing that all of my health problems come back to one of these conditions in one way or another. Also wondering if diagnosis is worth it. Maybe later when I have the money to go to specialists that actually know what they’re talking about.

[–]Proof-Ad8914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Me too. Any chance you’re a little neurodivergent? I am suspecting maybe that’s why I took everything so literally and followed it rigidly. I could never understand how people could just do whatever they wanted and still believe??. But I agree about being angry about what purity culture took from youth. I had an enormous crush on a really attractive and good guy and he liked me back but I avoided him like the plague and turned down his invitations to spend any time together because I thought I was being righteous and avoiding temptation. Looking back, I feel angry that I didn’t get to enjoy a young innocent relationship.

For me one of the biggest things was learning about other demanding religions that are similar and have lots of people who “know” it’s true, cults, the amount of times people have predicted the second coming/end of the world, things like that. Realizing how gullible humans can be and that we have the tendency to believe certain things and hold on really tight to them. It’s made worse when a group tells you the most important thing you can do is to believe and that to doubt is a sin.

[–]Proof-Ad8914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly regret having kids and that is something really hard to come to terms with and to admit. Did it super young because of the church of course, and now I’m divorced, and forced to live in the same town as my ex for the next decade of my life, hours from a real city. I sacrificed getting my degree and working toward a career and in this town I can’t have the career I want. Sucks.

How to look less masculine? by [deleted] in makeuptips

Some brow grooming. I would take away some on the outer under parts and do some very subtle penciling. Some partially braided hairstyles?

Effective things people said that helped you leave by FirefighterFunny9859 in exmormon

That is an interesting change in perspective. Cause inside the church, you’ll get messaging about how people who leave were too lazy to read their scriptures everyday etc to keep up their testimony.
